Historical Role-Play Thread
Aaaaaaaaaand we’re back! Hope you’ve done your research, historical role-play-ers, because it’s test time!!!!!!!
…Just kidding there. Feel free to look up whatever you need to while you’re talking (since this isn’t in chat format, no one will know you didn’t know about your character’s childhood until you got asked about it). I know I’ll have to.
For those of you who missed the first post, you’re being welcomed to The Historical Role-Play Thread! If you need an intro/refresher, the introduction post (including rules), is here: http://community.livejournal.com/history_haven/43100.html?view=410972#t410972
This is where you’ll be doing all posting as your historical character. This will last pretty much for as long as people are having fun. I'll start a new one, so people can chose new characters, in a few weeks. Writing in the first person as your chosen character, please discuss anything and everything! And actions can speak louder than words, so if inspiration strikes, you can do stuff as well. This can look something like:
Isabella of Castille
You were nothing more than a bastard born of Henry VIII’s mistress!
Elizabeth I
*Slaps Isabella*
How dare you?!
Of course, more civil actions are encouraged. *Glares at Elizabeth, attempting to overcome her fangirlish urge to jump up and down and scream, “why are you so awesome?!?!”*
Not that fights won’t break out, of course. I happen to know we’ve got some… volatile people showing up. Here’s the cast, as of now:
Lady Jane Grey - ninedaysaqueen
Jean Jacques Rousseau - thelasteddis
Isabella of France - viorica8957
Voltaire - azurarey
Virginia Hall - dreamsofpaprika
Catherine the Great - soujisblackcat
Marie Antoinette - versaillesqueen
However, we welcome new arrivals. Just comment as your character, with your character’s name as the subject line (everyone should do this, btw, so we have a reminder of who's talking. If you want you could even upload an icon of your character!), and I’ll add you to the cast list so we won’t have doubles. Can’t have clones walking around. And if you need to talk out of character, or OOC, you can do so in Historicus Fanum (see sidebar) or in private messages. Edit: comments with backstory in historicus fanum are marked with three asterixes, like this: ***.
Remember to try and focus on more general views, with specific instances of the character’s life as examples. Since most of our guests will be from different periods, Lady Jane Grey won’t have much luck finding someone to complain about her execution at Mary’s hands with. She’ll have a lot of luck finding someone to talk about execution in general with, though. And I’m sure she’d talk a lot about her own experiences in the… um… field. Yeah. 0_o
