It wasn't that Mimi was unhappy with her new living arrangements--Tosh was in the next room if she wanted to talk...or anything else. But Tosh needed her sleep, and when Mimi woke in the middle of the night, lonely and scared after a nightmare, she simply slipped on the dressing gown she'd found in the clothes box (a gorgeous embroidered turquoise satiny thing, god, she loved that box) and slipped silently out of the hut, her feet carrying her unconsciously and unerringly toward Bohemia.

Perhaps I should have been surprised, or at least feigned it. Perhaps I really did know, somewhere inside, that she was coming.

In any case I was waiting for her, when she appeared through the trees.

Mimi only hesitated for a second, startled but at the same time not to see Bagoas standing there. She let out a small sigh and went to him, slipping her arms around him without a word.

I wrapped an arm around her, the silk of my undergown rustling softly against the cloth of her robe. I was not sure what to say; if I ought to acknowledge how much I missed her or ask what brought her here. So for a moment I was silent, only rubbing absently against her arm.
