A little bit later, James comes in from work. Driving here rather than to his flat in Chelsea still takes a bit getting used to. He often finds himself turning corners to the flat when he ought to be going the other way, which explains why he's coming home a tad later than usual. He shakes his head as he steps in, calling out to Sarah, "I did it again."

The television has remained off this entire time. Instead, Sarah Jane has attempted to block out the images by busying herself with unpacking the reception room. It's a frantic sort of unpacking and tidying people do when they're bothered by something. Which, of course, means putting objects and the like in the wrong places.

"Did you?" she replies a moment later from the reception room. She ought to go out to greet him if she's going to pretend everything is normal. But she's certain that she is doing a bad job pretending.

So she stays hidden.

James stops when he sees her, his brow furrowing and his mouth frowning.

"Yes. I did."

Sarah Jane blinks when she realises she is not alone in the room. She places the small book stack down on a table and walks over to him, a false smile on her face.

"I suppose you'll just have to learn better."
