What the Heart Desires
How does one ignore this feeling
Of wanting nothing more than to belong?
How can one just walk away from this
Without thinking that it isn’t wrong?
While you walk away with a smile,
I stand here fighting back the tears
You made walking away seem easy,
My heart still hurts, the pain still sears.
I don’t act like it never happened,
Yet I act as if I’m already okay.
You are what my heart desired,
But you still just walked away.
The wounds on my heart will heal,
Although I’m sure part of it will scar.
Even if I wish for there to be no marks,
It shows what I’ve been through so far.
