The pub where the county stops (briefly)

I could probably go and find out, via the magic of looking for the relevant LJ entry, when I first found the Berkeley Arms. However it was probably a disturbingly long time ago and I would be left wondering what the hell I was thinking in the interim years. It was over 10 years ago.

A shorter time afterwards I managed to visit it when it was open and felt like I'd walked into Royston Vasey and spat on his helmet. It was _that_ unfriendly, as a local pub for local people, and ideally cousins.

Well, bloody hell.

Since it's called 'pub' or 'bar' or 'happy beer make talk shite' now, I believe there's been a change of stewardship. Wickwar ale, too.

BTW - Installed Winamp tonight and now I've just posted to LJ. What's next in retro computing? a quick game of Doom?

A Spectrum console (Bob alone knows why) and a BBC-sponsored version of the Microtan-65, I understand. Since it is the modern age, they all exist as tiny USB podules so as to be simple to lose.
