Last week, which is the reason for the new spectacles. And the reason for the spectacle-shop visit was the procession of migraines the week before.

My optician tried to interest me in a pair of 'desktop varifocals' designed to accommodate screens and reading and walking about in three zones. I tried them, and while they did work at all the ranges they only did it in a vertical stripe in the middle, which is no use when you have multiple monitors.

I currently favour sitting a little further away from a bigger monitor.
