here via friend of friendslist

The daytime playlist can be a bit too drippy indie but there is a bit more in the schedule that follows the legacy of John Peel i.e. playing a fair amount of unlistenable noise in order to find the good ones...

try Tom Robinson's friday night show, Bruce Dickinson's show for teh \m/ rawk \m/, Maconies Freakzone does what it says on the tin.

obviously YMMV

I must say that Maconie was indeed jolly good. I don't think Peelie ever was one for the properly unhinged jazz, which was a shame.

God. In the dim&distant, Peelie was only on Mon-Thurs, so I listened to some truly awful bands rather than re-tune the wireless. The bloody Enid. T(i|y)gers of Pan Tang. Wrathchild.

... And such Tom Robinson as I got to listen to before beetling off to make supper was basically the inside of JHR's record-box. Very fine.

6music played me Dead Kennedys during my brief listen yesterday afternoon. Mind you, maybe you're so hardcore that's filed under old drippy indie :)

Also, have relatives with glaucoma, drugs, and total lack of explodiness. I believe outlook is generally pretty good if diagnosed.

[FX: Fires up the net-player again.]

You know, the phrase 'Groove Armada in session' does not fill a chap with countercultural confidence.

The thing is, I well remember starting to listen to Peel. It was utterly impenetrable and it look at least a fortnight before I'd assimilated enough of this strange new racket for any of it to make sense.

(Similarly, reading SF is hard unless you've some map of the background concepts.)

Which means I shall persevere, but will still need to leaven the constant guitar-bothering (apart from whatever-it-is that Lamaq is playing now. Oh Gorillaz+MES. And now some old Fall. Container Drivers.) with Icon of Coil up loud. Or Underworld.
