I went to a food court in Chicago last year - we had to take a ticket and then could get anything from any of the food outlets and then pay at the end. I think it was in Water Tower Place or one block up or down from there.

1. While they're expanding out into stand-alone stores, that's usually the only place to find Chick-Fil-A around the midwest. Yum!

2. You guys in Chicago? And didn't plan a southerly trip? :(

I fear I wanted to go and look at some northern bits this time. If I ever find myself with a private income and/or six months off, I'll have to plan some old-netgoth-I-Spy/Pokemon expedition.

What it may lack in quality, I imagine it tries to surpass in quantity.

You'd think.

The 'Musclecar museum' in (Napoleon) Volo managed depths of uselessness not seen since the days of BR Traveller's Fare. And as for the effing Applebee's in Fuctifino, IL... See, when I go for a sarnie from the Cornwall/Devon pastie shops at home, the meat-product within has obviously been hacked off a dead animal. Multiple layers of 'reformed turkey ham with added water and lord alone knows what else' larded with superheated cheese-analogue is more or less some bugger having a right laugh at my expense.

I'm minded to opine that European street food is somewhat better than the US these days. Something which I would have thought impossible even two years ago.

But is the cookie stand part of the food court?

Great American Coookie CO........ya know, never seen it IN the food court, but usually near-by.

Usually.....or else at other end of mall from food court.

oh wait, I take that back. I guess the one in that mall right next to the D*C hotels would count as "in" the food court.

Oh my word. Did they have that mystifying cheese-like food-like product that's liquid at room temperature? That gives me the fear.

It's the cheese-like stuff that's aerosolised that scares me. Liquid at room temp cheese I can live with (especially if it's epoisses).

Alison won't let me have Epoisses in the house any more. I think it's something to do with the time I asked her to smuggle an unpasteurised Camembert to Scotland.
