I can probably blame lproven for finding this. (He's been talking of the 'good old days' of personal computing, and since I had to repair a random selection of 80s computing kit, my view of the whole thing is somewhat less than nostalgic. It's like that with 80s music, too ( Read more... )

Just had notification that Stallman is going to be at Manchester (part of BCS spod-u-like) on May 1st, funnily enough. Although, try as I might I have no interest in Lisp, so attending might be a bit snoozy.

He doesn't usually bang on about Lisp, other than perhaps providing context for starting the GNU project.

RMS usually has some interesting things to say, although I'd sit upwind of him and take it all with a good handful of salt. I tend toward European pragmatism rather than US preaching.
