I fear so.

On the other hand, I note people using phrases like 'A right shoeing' (Which I picked up from a particularly scary Gloucester Casual in 1983) or 'mildly concerning' (Denoting that pit-of-stomach-in-lift feeling when you see error messages from a particularly important computer) so I guess it all evens out.

After all, William Burroughs is a virus from outer space.

Paul is fond of 'a good shoeing' but I think he got that from his dad...

[FX: Thinks about making obvious comment. Doesn't.]

Parallel evolution wouldn't surprise me. I'd never come across the phrase before then because the people I knew who'd give some(one|thing) a kicking would be wearing boots. Even now, the mental image involves expensive loafers and white socks.

Why weren't we at the CCC, eh ? That was silly. Bah.

Berlin. Winter. Same reason as last time.

On the other hand, it should be the year for a CCC-Camp so we'd better go to that instead. (In the 'go early to be bossed around by English Pete and stay late to help Rop with the bins' manner.)

Hm. There's a post brewing that would involve listing the things I want to do this year, but I'm loath to do something like that for fear of getting to December and going 'Bugger!'

On the other hand, it would Do Me Good to set some goals like that. Maybe.

You're right, we had.

Goals are good. A chap should have something to strive for. And if you get to December and haven't done them, you'll know to try harder next year. Or pick easier goals.

Not that I think I could draw up any kind of coherent list, mind. Maybe I'll steal yours.

Although I'm probably better off just scribing them down in a handy Moleskine somewhere.
