I can't get to the page...is this the story that they're going to make Cookie Monster more politically correct (like, not snarfing as many cookies) in response to childhood obesity?
Somehow I doubt that the Cookie Monster is the cause of childhood obesity, but Sesame Street is known to be Very Careful about these things. I'm reading "Sesame Street Unpaved," a book for adult "graduates" of Sesame Street, and they also talk about why Snuffleupagus was "outed" to the adults on the show so that they saw and believed in his existence. With the rising news of child sexual abuse they were concerned that if the adults didn't believe Big Bird about Snuffy's existence, the kids watching would be scared to tell their parents about anything unusual that happened to them.
