The Bouquet Chapter 3&4

Title: The Bouquet 3&4/ 23
Rating: PG, nothing too bad. Angst... but I will include fluff later on :)
Pairing: Ohmiya
Disclaimer: I do not own Arashi yet... but we all have our dreams, right?
Note: I decided to take a new approach than what I usually do and write this Ohmiya fic in it’s own timeline without them being famous. Think of this story taking place in the late 50s or so...
I did base this story off of one of my favourite pictures of them (which I’ll post at the end of the story ^_^) Please enjoy!

Chapter Three

Ohno sat crossed legged on the front porch with a small easel in front of him.

He loved painting on these days where no one would bother him...

He spent most of his days doing this, painting, sleeping and helping around the house when his mother asked.

Ohno bit his tongue in concentration as he added the last stroke of his scenery. He frowned slightly and tilted his head to the side.

Something was... familiar with this picture... but he didn’t know why.

Ohno didn’t know why he did a lot of things lately, he just did them without thinking.

Everyday was almost identical to the last.

He lifted off the painting carefully and set it behind him against the wall of the house to dry. Ohno laid back and put his hands behind his head, staring up at the sky with a smile.

He had nothing to worry about.

Nothing to cause him worry.

No one to cause him heart break.

Nino had just come back from his evening session at the shrine. He was plainly exhausted, both mentally and physically. As he walked past his landlady’s apartment, she rushed out to get his attention.

"Ninomiya-san, you have a phone call." she told him quickly.

Assuming he had forgotten something at work, Nino took his time walking to the office and picking up the phone.

"Hai..." Nino answered dully, rubbing his eyes.

"Kazunari-kun... how are you?" Nino almost dropped the phone from surprise.

He hadn’t heard from her in such a long time, her voice almost brought more tears to his eyes. It was Ohno’s mother...

"I’m... okay..." Nino weakly answered.

What was he supposed to say? He really couldn’t be anything else but... okay.

"Satoshi-kun has been... painting things." okaa-san said slowly and softly.

Nino stood up from his slouched posture, his eyes wide.

"What things!?" Nino asked anxiously.

"Scenery mostly... ponds, fields..." she said in a tear choked voice.

Nino felt himself getting choked up also but had a smile on his face.

"That’s good, maybe we can move onto-"

"It’s... still too early to tell, Kazunari-kun..."

Nino remained silent and blinked back tears.

Too early!? He wanted his Ohno back, nothing was too early.

"Ohno-san, show him photos, letters, his ring-"

"Gomenasai. It’s too early, we’ll scare him..."

The line suddenly went dead on Nino and he stood trembling from head to foot.

Scare him... what would he be scared of?

Nino hung up the phone softly, thanked his landlady halfheartedly and numbly found his way into his dim apartment. He didn’t bother eating, changing, showering...

He was angry at the slow pace of winning his Ohno again...

But... Ohno was painting again... it was a start.

Chapter Four

"Who was that, kaa-chan?" Ohno asked, storing his paints inside of the closet near the front door. His mother turned from the phone with a teary smile.

"Oh, just an old friend. Are you hungry?" his mother quickly changed the subject.

Ohno nodded and smiled, he could always go for his mother’s cooking.

He watched his mother hurry into the kitchen and then walked up the stairs.

He was going to take a quick bath before dinner.

Ohno slowly entered the bathroom and began to undress while the tub was filling up.

He showered first, of course, humming a song quietly to himself, then moved on to the bath.
Ohno leaned his head against the wall and looked through the little window next to him.

Dark clouds were building up outside, casting shadows over the roofs of the other houses and buildings.

Ohno didn’t like storms. They always made him have nightmares of people he couldn’t see... people he should know, but doesn’t.

His brows furrowed together as the wind rustled through the trees eerily. It made Ohno shiver with the haunting sounds it made.

Ohno closed his eyes and listened to the wind as it blew around the wind chimes on the porch. He had hung these up to make the storms sound more pleasant.

He smiled at the soft, chiming sounds...

Nino sat at his dining room table, staring out the window with a frown on his face.

He twirled the cup around on the table in thought.

Storms like this, he used to love.

He loved the sound of the rain on the windows and how it made everything outside seem more blended and faded together.

But now... the rain was nothing.

Just water falling on the window panes.

Making everything gloomy.

Nino could see the roof of Ohno’s house from his window, tucked nicely behind the brick wall and trees that lined the road in front of his apartment.

Ohno had lived there forever.

Nino could never forget that. They were once neighbors.

Childhood friends that snuck out of their windows at night to go find frogs by the pond.

Making secret forts that their sisters weren’t allowed in.

Nino smiled at the memory and dropped his eyes to his full cup of tea.

They kept this secret fort all through their school days, meeting there after school to do their homework... which of course ended up as playing with bugs instead.

Nino remembered that one day, when Nino had turned fourteen... he saw his friend in a different light.

He started to notice the charm in the older boy’s vacant stare, the softness of his slender hands when he grabbed Nino’s hand.

His smile... his laugh... they brought out the happiness in Nino.

Ohno was suddenly the light in his young life...

Nino was brought out of his daydream by the sudden pounding of rain on his window.

He blinked back the tears that misted his eyes and slowly sipped his tea...

Perhaps the rain would wash away the darkness.

***Double chapters today :) Mainly because I wasn't happy with the end of chapter 3 :P
These two chapters aren't as sad as the first two... just showing how Ohno knows something's missing and Nino daydreaming alot :P
Hope you enjoy!***
