Smith and Jones... (spoilers, obviously)

So. I think, with Rose gone and my inherent love for the show with her, that RTD is having to work extra hard to get me to like these episodes. I’m noticing the plot holes that always used to pass me by before. I’m cringing at cheesey lines, I’m getting annoyed at the too-loud music, I’m sulking whenever things get shippy.
Now I know how those who ( Read more... )

Ahhh, the plot holes *sigh* The two that annoyed me most were how everyone was having a panic attack except Martha (seriously, c'mon) & the whole part from the doctors "death" to when things were reversed back to Earth (all of that seemed like one giant plot hole to me).
But what really got me was how frantic it all seemed. I just felt like they were trying to get too much done for one ep. But it was still fun to watch.
Watching the Confidential really helped me w/ some of my Martha/Doctor issues. After hearing how their approaching things, I feel a bit better about it, & now her flirting doesn't bother me so much.
& I totally found the "we were together" line shippy!!!

Oh, I didn't watch that! Well. I saw the end five minutes, and am beginning to wish I didn't, but...

Perhaps I should have watched all the way through. What did they say? Don't worry about giving me a full account LOL - I wouldn't be so cruel :P

Well, first I was worried Rose wouldn't even get mentioned in it, but they actually refered to her quite a bit. In the press release David said he felt this story took place quite a bit after TRB, & that the Doctor has spent some time traveling alone. They talked about how Rose had a kind of automatic emotional connection w/ the Doctor, while Martha's connection will be more of an intellectual one. They also said that Martha's relationship w/ the Doctor will be more about unrequited love. W/ Rose, she thought the Doctor was the greatest "man" & the Doctor thought she was the greatest woman, but w/ Martha it's not like that. So that helped me feel better some...

Ooh, thanks for that!

Yeah, I've been really worried that Rose won't be mentioned...it's good to see that she is, though I'm still pretty convinced that this'll be the only reference to her until Jack comes back. Let's just hope I'm proved wrong!

Yeah...I thought this was fine. Ten was crazier than ever and I wonder if this is his way of dealing with grief and loneliness. It was very flashy, but it lacked the heart and grab that hooked me onto the show from the second Nine said 'Run!' Martha is fine, also, but nothing special yet. I am open to further episodes, though.

Yep, exactly.

All that...turn of the Earth and "Run!"...the first episode gives me chills, even now, and the first episode of series two makes me happy and giggly. This just left me feeling a little...bleh. I mean, I'm not asking for the exact same lines or feelings - God no - but I am asking to be thrilled by it. Just a little.

You've a really interesting point there, with the grief and loneliness = extra whacky Doctor. Either way, I hope he deals with it in other ways, because that radiation dance was just about the stupidest thing I've ever seen on TV, including the Lost people finding a polar bear on a desert island.

Then again, most people seemed to find that dancing amazingly funny, so...there you have it.

That was amazingly silly. We GET it, okay? He's a wacky alien! He licks walls and whatever.

I agree with you like woah.

And, to use vocabulary above that of a ten year old...*grin*

Yeah, I know what you mean. There was just no...spark, no WOW about it, nothing that made me desperate to see where this was going to go. I thinking I'm watching it more out of past than current love.

"Then there was a lot of running down hallways to outrun aliens that can only march around or walk quickly." - Ha, absolutely!
