world is only a map drawn the window? Or is to open the window?

Well, with how most (not everyone) is today like you were stating people would view the world as a map drawn on the window rather than opening their minds to the world outside. So many people are afraid with stepping outside their comfort zones to think about different cultures or even America's subcultures. Like in my french class with how everyone kept saying how the french are so backward and complicated. They never once began to question that maybe we are the ones who are backward...or that no one is truly backward being that is how the people in those cultures were raised to live. Many may catagorize me as being of the gothic subculture, and while I am unsure I do have that sort of mindset discluding all the stereotypical fixtures of what most people think, but what sets me and others apart from the archetypal thinker is that we do try to think from another person's perspective and keep open minds to much of what surrounds us, leaving us with little comfort zone ( ... )

I agree completely. A majority of Americans are so close-minded and dont even care about the rest of the world. Take the news for instance. Do you remember when that woman from Alabama or Mississppii cut open a pregtnent friedn of hers and stole her baby? That was all you could hear about for a week. World news on the other hand was taking about the Civil War Treaties being drawn up in Senegal. Most people dont even know where Sengal is on a map, much less that there was a Civil War.

It is absolutly vital to the expansion of knowledge to try to understand how the other 96% of the planet thinks. Not to be close minded.
