and if a double-decker bus crashes into us.

Today's my birthday, which so far has been neither exciting nor boring. Then again, so far I've only decided that it's fine for me to have pancakes for breakfast, because it's my birthday. Sometimes I'm so timid that I want to strangle myself ( Read more... )

Happy Birthday!

Also: you'll be here on *my* birthday [Nov 15]! :) You should visit Niterói and come to the museum, yes! And visit me. :D It's a bit of a trip -- 13km bridge between the two cities and everything, but it's oh. so. worth it.

As for Rio, the obvious places would be Sugar Loaf and Copacabana beach, I guess. PRETTY!

Anyway. You should email me when you have finalized plans 'cause we can definitely hang out. :)

Thanks!

I reckon that since I'm not planning on doing the 'normal' touristy things, I'll have time to go to Niterói. And your birthday is on that Saturday, when I've hopefully gotten over the jet-lag, so if I see you, I'll actually be able to communicate properly. ;)

November 15th is a national holiday (not because of Tissa's birthday), so some places you'll want to see might not be open. I was just about to say that if you're only staying for a couple of days, it would be better to pass on the regular touristy spots. They're pretty, but there are better ways to spend your money. I recommend taking a look around Santa Tereza. It's a nice looking neighborhood, they have good shops and places to eat. Also, a stroll along the beach is very relaxing, and it's a very "local" thing to do. Tissa's neighborhood is nice, too, and depending on where you're staying in town, it doesn't really take that long to get there.

And I almost forgot: Happy Birthday!

Thanks!

I'm staying somewhere along the Copacabana promenade, but I'm honestly not sure what that means in terms of Rio geography. But I'm trying to compile a list of what to do, so. Santa Tereza seems nice.
