wedding locations?

Does anyone know of wedding locations (ceremony and/or reception) in the Blacksburg area? I have a bed & breakfast in Christiansburg on my list of potential places, but I don't really know of anywhere else. There's the obvious chapel at VT, which I'm sure is booked, and then there might be possibilities of using different areas on campus (duck ( Read more... )

My friends Brittany & Adam got married at the amphitheater near the duckpond last May, & some other friends are getting married at the new Inn this August (which books pretty fast). I think you can also use the horticultural gardens... I have pics from b & Adam's wedding site if you want to see.

I'd love to see a few pics, especially to be able to see how it can be set up for a wedding. Can you send a few to my gmail address I gave you for the beta reading? Thanks!! :)

I've seen people get married at the Hort Gardens and it looked really nice. The Duck Pond would also be wonderful (and I'm pretty sure that's an option).

You can always do what Boyd did and do the Mountain Lake (aka Dirty Dancing hotel) thing... but I've been told that the lake has totally dried up at this point! (well, maybe it's come back from all this rain by now...). It was really pretty though (but I bet doing it on campus is much cheaper, and more convenient).

Yay!!! Megan!!!! ^_^

Oh, I forgot to mention that that the Alumni hotel on campus (where the old golf course used to be) would probably do a wedding... the place is freaking sweet. At the very least you could probably hold a reception there, if so inclined.

I was thinking of Mountain Lake myself (the pictures look beautiful). If you did we would really have to coordinate the dates ;o)

Not to just repeat Michelle and Melinda, but I've mostly seen weddings at the Horticulture Garden, and it's a really pretty area.

But what time of year are you thinking? Winter - I'd probably do somewhere inside, fall - I'd vote duck pond (the gardens won't be in blume), spring - you're likely to be pooped on and will have to fight over the territorial & mating calls of a bazillion birds, summer - you may be good anywhere.

hehehe, good things to point out. We are planning for summer right now, but I'll keep your comments in mind in case we consider an earlier date (like spring). ;)

I know this may not help much, but my friend Emily got married not too far away from here at a quaint little farm that has a FABULOUS overlook as the backdrop for the ceremony, and a reception area that is a quaint old barn turned into a beautiful lit banqueting hall. If you like old-style or even just want something cheep (I think it's pretty cheep since not too many people know about it) you should consider it. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the place, but I could look it up for you after exams if it's something you'd want to check out.

yes, please! As soon as your exams are over, I'd love to have you find out the name of it for me. :) Thanks!

I would like that two - better to look at more than one place. :o)

No matter what, I promise not to poach your wedding spot Meg. :o)
