un. i just watched mtv cribs (well, during csi commercial breaks) and this time they were visiting the korean-american mv-director whose name i cannot remember but he had canned "kim chee" in his fridge. >>;; looked like my icky kimchi. so, i guess you're right. many ways to spell it. though mtv translators >>;; you never know.
