I heard on my way home from work.. walked in the house, Picked up the cat and said "Sorry Manny you've been traded to the dodgers." He licked me on the face and then scratched me. I put him down and said "Yep, we named you right. :)"

A bunch of us were talking at work about this and the Griffey trade. I had about as much interest in both stories. *yawn*

Theo trading Manny is huge, but best for everybody. Even though he and Ortiz were really good friends, Manny just didn't want to play team ball anymore. Not only that, but he didn't even play in his position that well to begin with... outside of the Sox Green Monstah, he was a hole in Left Field. And everybody and their brother knows that the Sox weren't going to cover his $20M extension next year (and for good reason), so at least we're trading him out west and getting something for him. More importantly, we're not letting the Yanks get him either.
