I had written all of the other drabbles and put them in order and was about to post, when I thought... "something's missing." And then I realized I didn't have Barney deviously planting the pineapple, which, let's face it, is a distinct possibility.

Also, I considered having Ted have a vision of a giant pineapple bequeathing him his very own pineapple to care for as part of a great quest, but I wanted to keep things realistic. Utterly idiculous, yes, but realistic.

Hey, you could have had Ted being given an asprin-that-wasn't-asprin and hallucinate the big pineapple? If you wanted a number 10!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I wanted, but where does the actual pineapple come from!? It can't just magically appear?... hmm...

Re: applepine, that came out of an improv game we played that's kind of like charades, and the guy who was guessing said "applepine," and we all went... "what?" Haha :)

I had a lot of fun with 5... and let's be serious, who wan't a bit more curious as to what would have happened if Ted had gotten into the killer nude cab driver's cab in "Miracles?" There's a lot of sketchy and questionable stuff going on all the time on this show!

The way I view the prompt, "drinking games" doesn't have to literally mean a game involving drinking - much as we did not all interpret "sick" as being ill. This is more about ways that Ted amuses himself (game = form of amusement) while he's drunk. Or you can think of it as a game of "get the pineapple!" where Ted always wins :)
