Hey everyone!
I just wanted to put out a reminder that all drabbles must be exactly 100 words in order for the drabbles to count for your team.
Longer stories are permitted but the word count for them must be a multiple of 100 and where each section of 100 ends, it must be at the end of a sentence. For example:
(Story text here, say 88 words:)
With the emerald sky glistening behind them, she wondered if the wizard / end of first drabble.
That's a no-no. Have to be complete sentences to complete the 100 words.
Also, I wanted to remind everyone to please use the set format for submitting drabbles. This can be found at
The Rules. Yes, I do want them word for word so that the submissions are uniform.
All you have to do is go to the first text box in the rules section and copy/paste them into your Post an Entry box. It should look like this:
Title:
Author:
Team:
Word Count:
Fandom:
Characters/Pairings:
Rating/Warnings:
Author's Notes:
- Do I have to have a title? Yes. I don't care what it is. It can be the prompt challenge for all I care. (Although if you post more than one, it must have different titles unless it is a sequel to an earlier post, in which case it should have a "part two" or, "two" or "II" or whatever.)
- Do I need to put an author? Yes. Be it your real name, username, whatever. If it is written by someone else, it does not count as a drabble and you should not be posting it here becuase that is plaigarism. Even if you credit it to the author, you may not post it. Ask them to join and post it themselves.
- Do I need to put my team there? Yes. No explanation needed on that, I think.
- Do I need to put the word count there? Yes. As you can see, we've had some problems with having the correct word count in order for drabbles to count. It's great that you guys are writing drabbles, but the name of the community includes the number "100". I'm not sure how to be clearer on that. Please be sure that the drabbles are exactly 100 words. If you use a "--" in your drabble, make sure it isn't connecting the two words (ie put a space between the dash and the word on both sides unless, of course, it is a compound noun and you're not using a hyphen and not a dash for literary effect). If you don't put a dash, word counters will only count it as one word.
- Do I need to put in the fandom? Yes. Because this is a dual fandom community, it is very important you put the fandom in there. Some people are only interested in HIMYM and others only in TBBT. This way they don't have to sift through stories.
- Do I need to put in the characters/pairings? Yeah. Unless it's a secret pairing (in which case it should be so marked in that area).
- Do I need to put in the rating/warnings? Definitely. Rating is a must. Warnings only need to be put in if there are warnings. If there's nothing you would consider "inappropriate" in your story, you do not have to write "none" or "no warnings". If the story is a pg-13 or above, please state why -- that's what the warning thing is for. Again, we have people who don't want to read smut so you need to say if it's there.
- Do I need to put Author's notes in? Please do. If you have something to tell about why/how you wrote the story, go ahead. If you want to put a summary, be my guest. If you want to put the first line of your drabble there, more power to you. If you have nothing to say, just write "none".
Most of these I haven't had problems with. It's just the submission format. You guys probably think I'm being super neurotic about this, but I really want the community to have a nice clean, user/reader-friendly set-up. We have people who don't write the stuff but do read it so let's make things easy on them (and me!)
I hope this got rid of any questions you might have had. I'll be setting up an FAQ post later. In the mean time, please put any questions below -- whether it relates to set up, or anything else.
Winners will be posted sometime later today, I hope. I'm just waiting for the banners. :)
Thanks!
