I mean, telling suicidal people that suicide is stupid is going to feel to them like they are being told, "You're stupid, your problems are stupid, and you're ridiculous for thinking your depression is significant." I'm not saying that's an appropriate response, but it's the natural one, especially for someone gripped by depression. An ad campaign that says suicide is stupid is just going to convince a suicidal person that EVERYONE thinks badly of them for being suicidal. Nobody likes stupid people, and if one feels suicidal, and knows this is stupid, and knows nobody likes stupid people, one is going to feel like nobody likes one. Which probably adds to the feeling suicidal
