Hey, whatever happened to cheat codes? Remember back in the day, you could hit some crazy combo of buttons and get special stuff to make your game easier? Then there was a huge rash of computer games where you'd type in something like "Neptunesweasel" and get unlimited money or heath or something. Great stuff that. If a game was driving you batshit ( Read more... )

LEGO Star Wars II (and presumably the LEGOs Star Wars, Batman, and Indiana Jones) has cheats that you can unlock during the game. On each board, there's a reg "mega block." If you find it, you open another "extra" for purchase at the Cantina. Some of the extras are purely decorative: grappling lines get replaced with flower strands, every character runs around wearing the thick glasses/big nose/moustache "disguise." (Even the Millenium Falcon,X-Wings, and AT-ATs.) Other extras are more useful: super blasters, super lightsabers, invulnerability, etc. Some of them are hard to find, or easy to find but hard to access. Others I just stumbled upon as I played. And the cost to purchase them once you've unlocked them varies based on how useful it is. ...ok that's a little scary. When we were talking about this earlier, the first thing that popped into my head was Toejam & Earl.

I would have been impressed by your toejam and earl conquering. you must just be using that line on the wrong women :)

but yes, I agree on every other count... I'm all for people spending/wasting hours and days and months beating a game as long as they are aware of the lack of point. horray, fun... but all in all, pointless.

though, really, isn't everything pointless? if you think about it, everything is for nothing except to pass the time before we die. some people will "accomplish" things, but in the end nothing matters.

woah, that got really dark really quick... sorry.

I love you!! *big cheesy grin*
