Something interesting

So...I'm almost back to my High School weight. I'm wearing the same size pants I wore as a senior in High School after nearly a decade of wearing somewhat larger sizes. I'm in extremely good shape and have managed to shed a great deal of unwanted chub.

One thing that I find very interesting is the difference in my abdomen. In high school, at this weight, being in excellent shape, I had a six pack. Most of the definition and tone and what not was in the middle.

My abs look nice now, flat stomach and all, but the bulk of the muscle definition is in my intercostial muscles on the sides. All those wee rib muscles that point towards the middle.

Now, is this a change in workout or a change in me? Is my body simply different at 28 than it was at 18 (aside from the obvious) and the muscles are building differently? Or is my workout routine so drastically different as to build a different physique for me?

Don't get me wrong, I like this look. I liked that look. I'm just musing on the differences.

Now let me hop in my time machine and take a picture of my abs back in the day, and a picture of me today to contrast and compare.
