From Hilary to Kevin Bacon in Five Easy (if obscure) Steps

Feb 20, 2007 13:59

For those of you who don't read chouyu_31's journal, I am going to point out that I, just like him and a great many of our college friends, am within 5 degrees of Kevin Bacon. Here are the connections, as posted in his LJ:

I was in Really Decadent Guys with Uriah McKinney.

Uriah McKinney was in Double Eagle (in production) with Herb Grika.

Herb Grika was ( Read more... )

If it makes you feel any better, most of the ninjas in RDG really, really, really sucked.

Also, there were no pirates (at least not that I remember). So I had to settle for second best.

But I was a ninja with a number on my back in masking tape!

You've got at most 4 degrees by knowing me, since I have 3 (if we count life connections instead of production credits, anyway):

I worked at Anheuser Busch for Jim Thompson.
Jim Thompson partied at Mizzou with Brad Pitt.
Brad Pitt was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon.

Of course, that middle one was just what he claimed, not exactly something I can verify...

See, I've always played the game by counting production credits, either movies or TV shows, specifically with actors (no producers or writers or anything like that)... and it's kinda neat that the only movie I've ever been in gives me a Kevin Bacon connection.

I think if you counted life connections, almost everyone in the world would be within six degrees of Kevin Bacon.

That *is* pretty cool, honestly; going the purist route and getting there is admirable!

But besides, isn't the Six Degrees theory, in fact, that everybody in the world has six degrees to each other (or maybe just Kevin Bacon, who knows)?

I think that's the theory (I never did read that play, so I'm not sure), and it's no more than six degrees of separation from anyone else in the world (the Kevin Bacon thing basically just comes from the fact that his name rhymes with "separation" and has the same number of syllables). But the point of the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game as I learned it was to make the connections through movies.
