Yikes! That's not good at all. Maybe you should try going nocturnal for a few days (stay up until 5a or so, then go to bed) and see if you can reset things?

Why is going nocturnal useful? I might try to stay up after waking up at 5a (no naps) and then fall asleep at 10p. I'm afraid that, if I go nocturnal, my body will declare victory and never go back. Do you know something I don't?

It's not so much the going nocturnal as the complete disruption and change of the sleep cycle that seems to reset the body clock, as it were. On the rare occasions where I've had similar issues, it worked for me, but then again, I'm weird.

Worth remembering anyway.

*laughing*

I feel your pain. But that's pretty funny. :)

I've been having sleep disruption too. I hate sleep disruption. I'm kicking my melatonin dose back up. You ever try melatonin?

No. What can you tell me? (Maybe over lunch, if the mercury decides to peek its head over 32 degrees, like, ever?)

I'm sure it'll happen someday. Just not sure how long it'll take all the snow to melt without refreezing as ice. But I digress.

Melatonin is a chemical that promotes sleep; your body produces it naturally. Some people find taking an over-the-counter version helps them sleep. I'm among them. I've been taking 1 mg per night every night for nearly a year now. It helps me get drifty and mellow. FWIW, it's not habit-forming.

Maybe talk to your doc about melatonin or possibly tryptophan, or other options? There's also a homeopathic called Calms Forte that can help sometimes.

I'm sure we can find other things to talk about over lunch. :)
