[mod] regarding the threat of suspension

Per LJ's suspension of shota, pornish_pixies, sbrb_blackcest among a host of other communities to do with incest or what could be construed as pedophilia due to their interests list, I will be removing all the interests from the community profile for the time being

I doubt we'll be in for suspension (::knocks on wood::) but in such a case I think our best option would be to create a new community, friends-locked from the beginning, in which we make clear that we do not actually support incest and are writing it for fiction purposes only.

Or we'd relocate to JF or GJ but that would defeat the purpose of an LJ community. :/

I'll be discussing this further with sapphira_angel as soon as I can get in contact with her.

It's so odd to see this popping around in fandoms I'm in that are totally unrelated to each other.

I JUST joined as a member like two seconds ago, and this is just ticking me off to no end. >_o Especially as, as I have said several other places before, there is no way twincest can be shota/pedophilia, no way at all, so why are these people targeting that watchword?

Well 1) incest is illegal in most of the known world (as far as I know), even if it's not pedophilia, and 2) Warriors for Innocence use their own brand of logic.

I agree with their cause, but I think the targeting of LJ comms is not the way to go about it. You're more likely to offend innocent citizens and violate their rights to freedom of speech than to catch actual pedophiles and rapists.

But, as I've said, better safe than sorry. :) Let's do our best in all our fandoms.

Good point. Mods are trying to decide if we're going to delete the comm for safety's sake until after everything's blown over, but I'll make a new post when a decision's been reached.

If the comm's gone, further news can be found on my personal journal. (There's nothing there as yet, but if it comes down to deletion or suspension, news will be posted there.)
