Being Unfortunate is Not a Reason to be Pitied Right Away!

CHAPTER LINKS HERE~

“Why did you take the cast off yourself?...” the doctor asked Daiki worriedly. “And where’s your father?...”

“He’s busy…” he looked down while rubbing his right arm with his left palm. It has been three days since he took off the cast himself just to be able to write again. He really need his right hand to study mathematics at that time, that’s why he get rid of it even the doctor had told him to let it stay for a while until the bones that were slightly broken will be healed.

“You just answer the second question. Why did you take it off?...”

“It’s bothering me. I can’t write, eat and hold things like usual...” he pouted stubbornly. “Is there no medicine that can cure this right away?...”

“You can’t be hasty Daiki…” the doctor said. “You have to be patient and look…” he carefully held the affected arm of the boy above his desk. “You severed it even more. If it swells terribly, you won’t be able to hold anything at all…”

“I don’t want that to happen…” Daiki begged arguably. “I need my hand and my arm. Please save it Doctor…”

“Ok…” the doctor nodded. “I’ll put a cast on it again and a sling. I’ll give you medications also but promise me not to remove it until the 31st of this month…”

“Will it be ok then?...”

“I’ll examine it again and we’ll be taking another x-ray of it to make sure that everything is already ok…”

“X-ray?...” he grasp his wallet tightly with his left hand. How much pocket money should he save up to the end of this month? Right now no one is financially aiding him because he doesn’t want to bother his parents. He already knew once he’ll talk about this, his mother will get angry again and his father will start telling him stories as well about how much pain in the ass it is to spend money if Ryosuke future is the thing they should prioritize first. “How much is it doctor?...”

“It will be your father’s problem…”

“But he’s not here, so just tell me so that I can tell him…” Daiki insisted.

“Ok…” the doctor sighed. He took his prescription pad then to scribble the medicine needed of the boy and the amount of the said procedure. “Here…” he handed it to Daiki while calling the attention of his assistant to get ready with the cast and materials needed for Daiki’s treatment.

“Is there no discount for this?...” Daiki asked in a sound like he’s begging to lower the price already. “I’m a student, I think there should be a discount for me…”

“The price is set in a standard manner. Everyone is paying the same amount. You can’t get a discount unless you’re a senior citizen already…”

“But I am a student…”

“There’s no such thing like that in the hospital Daiki. It only applies on bus fares…”

He went home with a cast on his right arm again, flexed securely in a ninety degree angle by a sling. He thought his father could notice it but he was simply ignored along the way. He was about to call his father attention with his left hand ready to give the prescription pad when Ryosuke suddenly jumped off the stairs to grab that chance from him again.

“DAD! DAD!...” Ryosuke yelled while running excitedly.

“What is it?...” he faced his son eagerly then.

“I’m attending a seminar this weekend and I need money…”

“A seminar? What seminar?...”

“A workshop where we could decide for our future course…”

“Oh…” he chuckled happily. He brushed off the hair of his son then. It looks like Ryosuke is now looking forward to the future and he should be supporting that. “Sure, how much do you need?...”

“50,000…”

“50,000?...” he’s kind of unprepared to give such amount in a short time but when Ryosuke frowned terribly at him, he nodded with a smile even though he’s not that sure that he can produce such amount on time. “Sure baby. I’ll give it to you this Friday…”

“Thanks Dad!...” Ryosuke hugged his father chirpily then and before he leaves, he stuck out his tongue at his brother who never bothers anymore to argue with him.

“Dad…” When Ryosuke disappear, Daiki gathered his courage to talk with his father.

“What?...” he turns problematic this time while facing his second son. He doesn’t want to disappoint Daiki by giving a grumpy expression right away but 150,000 yen is bothering him. How can he find something big like that just within two days from now? “Is there something you need?...”

“I need money as well…”

“Oh come on Daiki…” he scratched his head and then his nape. “Haven’t you heard your brother? He just asked me to find 50,000 and you know I can’t disappoint him so please if it’s not that important, don’t bother to tell me the amount anymore…”

“It’s for my medicine…” he showed the pad where the doctor had written his needs and his father took it in a snap with a heavy sigh which sounds like refusing him already. “It will only cost around 1,000 yen, so---”

“1,000 yen?...” he gave it back to Daiki. “I’m giving you 2,000 yen as your allowance every week, right? Why not use half of it for your medication?...”

“But I’m currently saving for---”

“Saving for what?...” he cut in again, giving Daiki no opportunity to reason out. “Are you planning to attend the seminar also?...”

“No…” he shook his head.

“Then use your pocket money. I can’t always afford everything for the both of you…”

Even though he knows he had no hope to have his mother’s yes, Daiki took away all of his fear to face the woman who is until now so angry at him. “Mom?...” he carefully call her softly.

“I’m busy…” she turned away immediately, acting as if there’s more work to do in the sink even everything is already clean and in place.

“I’m not going to bother you long. I just want to ask something from you…”

“What is it?...”

“Is it ok for me to have those cactuses in the garden?...”

“Why?...”

“Because no one is taking care of them anymore…”

It’s true. She never bothers to clean the garden or to even water the plants on it. It will be always Daiki who will spend some time watering them if it’s weekend or holidays. “They’re all yours already. Why should you ask permission from me?...”

“Because it’s your favorite plant, right?...”

That makes her stop from acting busy on the sink. She never thought someone could still remember that. “Not anymore so you can have them all…”

“Are you sure?...”

“Do we have to repeat this talk again and again Daiki? Aren’t you tired?...”

“I’m sorry…” he bowed his head and then he walked away. How he wished he could still say thank you but seeing her glaring already is something he can’t provoked by kind words. Right now, there’s nothing he could do but to stay low. He’s parents is still angry about him. He should be careful not to make them angrier.

“Daiki?...” Kei went surprised seeing Daiki on the flower shop with a box being dragged sloppily on the floor.

“Kei-kun…” Daiki was surprised as well to see the guy doing some ikebana on one of the flower shop’s table. “What are you doing here?...”

“I’m working as part time here. You?...”

“I’m going to sell my cactuses to the old lady here…”

“Why?...”

“I’m planning to attend the seminar this weekend and I have to buy my medicines also. I just can’t ask my father to give me 50,000 if Ryosuke had asked for it already…”

“But it’s his responsibility…”

“I was never on his responsibility because Ryosuke is more important than me…”

“Don’t say that…” he pitifully eyed the boy. “I’m sure, you’re important to him also…”

“How I wish that’s true because until now I can’t feel it…”

“Oh! You’re here!...” the old woman came in from the back door and she happily greeted Daiki, patting the boy on the head like as if Daiki is already her grandson. “What brought you here again Daiki?...”

“I want to sell something to you…”

“To me?...” she checks on the box and found so many lovely cactuses in it. “Oh my~” she sighed in despair then. “Aren’t these your mother’s favorite?...”

“Not anymore…” he replied and then he added, “That’s what she said so I’m selling them…”

“For how much?...”

“50,000…”

She laughed unbelievably. “You can’t sell them boy in 50,000 only. Don’t you know how much each of them cost?...”

“No…” he shook his head and Kei patted him to look at the chart pasted at the wall just next where the counter is located. “10,000!...” he himself can’t believe it. “10,000 each, so if I’m going to sell them all………..”

“You’re going to become rich Daiki…” Kei continued while Daiki is still on the process of multiplying and adding.

“Then I’ll just sell 5 of them!...”

“Then I’ll take five then…” the old woman picked five lovely cactuses from the box and gave Daiki the money in exchange. “50,000 yen, hope that could help you already on whatever you’re planning to do…”

“Thank you so much…” Daiki bowed gratefully before leaving the flower shop happily. He dragged out the box then with him to call for a cab and to go home.

“How long have you known each other?...” Kei asked the old lady.

“I can’t remember exactly when but it was when he was crying terribly outside my shop…” she replied with sadness in her tone. “Daiki is always beaten by his mother and he’s always here to tell me that it wasn’t his fault. He was always labeled dumb and useless as well but no one ever notice how kind that boy is. From time to time, he will come here to help me with the shop and I’ll give him money so that he can buy a pair of shoes or a pair of socks. I always wonder why he’s parents is treating him that way, well, maybe because he’s not special…” Kei had given her a look of doubt and she rephrased her words, “That’s what he told me, he said no one likes him because he’s not special…”

“Yuya, can we talk…” Kei dragged his cousin to come with him somewhere where no one could hear them.

“What do you want to talk about?...”

“Are you really serious with Ryosuke?...” he asked.

“Of course, why?...”

“Haven’t you like someone before other than him?...”

“Actually I had but it doesn’t matter anymore, I have Ryosuke already…”

“How about Daiki?...”

“What are you asking about?...” he shoved his cousin off from him. Kei is just too close on ask him something so personal and it’s something he hates about. “It’s none of your business to ask about my love life…”

“So you like him?...”

“Who?...” he asked back mockingly. “Daiki? No! I never like him. I just like him because he’s Ryosuke’s twin brother, that’s all…”

“But you had liked him?...”

“Will you stop asking nonsense already?! Because I’m not interested to argue…”

“But I am interested to know…” he grabbed his cousin’s collar to see closer if Yuya is hiding something important. Yuya is after all easily to be read. He can tell if the guy is trying to avoid a topic or if the guy is telling a lie. “Tell me Yuya, are you really in love with Ryosuke?...”

“YES!...”

“You’re left eye is twitching. I can see lie from it…”

“Come on! My left eye is more sensitive than my right! It will twitch anytime it wants!...”

“Then fine…” he let go of the guy and out of the blue, he suddenly asked, “Will it be ok with you if I’ll court Daiki and make him my boyfriend in the future?...”

“WHAT?!...”

“You have Ryosuke already, right? So let me have the twin brother…”

“NO!...” he clenched his hands on his side. Right now, he feels like punching Kei for making such joke. “If you’re just planning to play with him, then forget it!...”

“No, I’m not…” he seriously shook his head. “I like Daiki and I think I will love him seriously. Don’t you know how interesting he is? Even he’s dumb and useless, he’s someone whose innocence is something you can’t resist at all…”

“That’s why I don’t want you to court him!...” he grabbed Kei on the arm, pulling the latter hurtfully toward him. “Don’t you dare touch him!...”

“Why?...” he looked closely to his cousin’s eyes. “Because he’s Ryosuke’s twin brother or because---”

“Shut up…” he cut in, squeezing his grip to transfer his anger toward it.

“You knew…” Kei finally sees it. “You knew it wasn’t Ryosuke! You knew it was Daiki that night! But because you’re guilty, you’re making Ryosuke feel that you still love him but actually---”

“Shut up!!!...” he slapped his cousin not to continue any further. “You don’t know anything at all…”

“You’re hurting them both Yuya…” he clasped his face. “No…” he shook his head. “You’re hurting yourself by pushing your heart to love Ryosuke even though the one you really love is Daiki…”

“I love Ryosuke…”

“You only love him because you can spend time near with Daiki…”

“I’m not using him! I really love Ryosuke with all my heart!...”

“Then I dare you! Tell Daiki you don’t like him and that’s when I’ll believe you!...”

“Fine!...”

Daiki went shocked seeing Yuya approaching him so early in the morning. “Y-Y-Yes?...” he asked shyly.

“Can you give me a minute?...”

Daiki nodded and Yuya starts to fidget.

“Do you like me?...”

That makes Daiki shiver on his spot. He never told anyone about this except Kei. “Kei told you?...” he asked back with tears in his eyes. Right now, he can’t think clearly on what to do? Will he run off or will he lie? “It was a joke!...” he decided to lie. “I was just joking…”

He sensed it. The hurt when Daiki said that it was just a joke. That’s the reason why he never pursues anymore because Daiki is always avoiding or rather hiding the feelings. It was him first who end up liking the boy not because Daiki is so pitiful compared to Ryosuke but because he saw the kindness of the boy so many times already. Daiki is kind to animals. Only Daiki will dare to treat a wounded dog with so many mud and shit on it. Daiki is considerate to old people. The boy will even left his bag on the couch, easily targeted by itchy hands, just to help an old man or an old woman to cross a street. Daiki is never selfish to children. The boy will even give his share to those who already had it but still not full enough to be satisfied. And Daiki is always lovable everytime he sees the boy talking with plants and animals. “I don’t care if it was just a joke but when it’s true, I only have these words for you…”

Daiki did one step to distant himself from the guy. He knows the answer already and there’s no need for him to hear it and be hurt again and again about it. It’s better to know it by assumption than to hear it straight from Yuya’s lips. It will kill his heart at once if Yuya will ever say it directly. “NO!...” he cried and then the turned around. “Don’t say it…” he covered his ears and then he starts running off as fast as he can until he sensed someone grabbing him to stop, hugging him not to cry anymore. “Kei?...” he really thought it was Kei but he’s wrong.

“No…” Yuya can’t help it anymore. Seeing Daiki crying one more time is already killing his entire being. “It’s me, Yuya…”

“Stop clinging on me or else I will never ever let go of you anymore…”

“Why do you have to be stubborn? Why haven’t you returned the umbrella on me at that time?...”

“You gave it to me because Ryosuke was with me at that time…”

“Then I lied because I want you to be jealous but you were never jealous, you even accepted the fact that I and your brother are already together…”

“Because I don’t deserve you…” he sobbed. “I’m ugly, dumb and useless. I will just shame you…”

“No, you’re not…” he pulled Daiki to face him and Daiki looked away. “Look at me…”

“I’m even more ugly when I’m crying…”

“You are never ugly to me…”

“How could you say that when everyone is already telling me again and again that I’m not as pretty as my brother…”

“Because I can see your inside…” he palmed the face of the boy and when Daiki is about to argue once again, he shut it up with a kiss which makes him so sure that that night, it was really Daiki whom he was with in his embrace. “The same…” he said when he broke the kiss in a second, capturing it again afterwards when Daiki is about to ask him if what was the thing he was talking about. And when he senses like he’s about to fuck the boy any moment, making him feel like he can’t ever let go if that happens, he stop to calm himself down and to provide space for Daiki to breath. “We should stop here…” he said while distancing himself away from the boy. “You’re making me crazy…”

“What?...” Daiki asked innocently and Yuya saw what Kei had told him a while ago. Daiki’s innocence is after all irresistible and if he won’t make his move already to make this boy his own, he won’t know who else could see such beauty that could take the latter away from him totally.

“Forget it…” he smiled and Daiki went so red but with tears. “Don’t cry…” he said, wiping off the droplets on the latter’s cheek.

“How about Ryosuke?...” he asked. “He likes you…”

“I know…” he guiltily palmed his nape. “I think I’ll just talk this out with him little by little…”

“Yuya…” he grabbed the guy not to leave for a while when he sense Yuya is about to walk away from him. “Do you love me?...”

“It was you whom I love before and even now…”

“So you love me?...”

“Yes… I love you, how about you?...”

“I always love you…”
