((*totally makes up spells from a Latin translator :P*))

"Exsolvis," came a quiet voice from next to her, and Blake smiled with slight pleasure, seeing the knot come undone at his spell. Esme had sat down to fix it, apparently not noticing, and quite startling, the boy who had been on the other side of the bench, silently reading a novel. He didn't mind, though; he was used to being somewhat invisible.

"Hey, Esme," he greeted her, happy to see a friend during his somewhat boring summer, "er, how are you?" Even with friends, Blake tended to be somewhat awkward.

((LOL, *is definitely more lazy than you and couldn't be bothered so used Esme's forgetfullness as an excuse* XD))

Looking around in surprise, Esme smiled gratefully at her rescuer. "Blake!" she cried, pleased to see him. "How come I didn't even notice you there? I must be going blind." Laughing at herself, Esme swiftly re-tied her lace and then turned to face him properly.

"I'm well, thank you, although have been spending inordinate amounts of time in Diagon Alley to try to avoid boredom at home." She made a face, to suggest that summer wasn't wuite all it was cracked up to be. "How about you?"

Realising just a little late (oh, Esme was good at that) that Blake had been happily reading his book, she prompty apologised. "Oh, but I don't mean to interrupt your reading. Would you like me to go and leave you to it?" Esme may love company herself, but she did occasionally realise that not everyone did.

((Pff, nobody is more lazy than me. I just like words. :D))

"Don't worry, it happens," he assured her, the small smile still resting on his face. "I'm sure the shoelace was an entirely pressing matter, anyhow," there was a note of gentle teasing in there, but naturally it was all harmless, like most of Blake was, really.

"I've been pretty much the same," he agreed with a slight shrug. "Not much to do, so I've mostly been around with Melody, helping a bit with her summer job. She photographs and works with models for her dad," he gave a soft laugh, knowing it was kind of odd for him to be helping with that kind of work, but he would follow Melody anywhere.

"No, that's all right," Blake said, placing a bookmark in his page and closing it. "I haven't seen you in a while, and I've got plenty of time to read this book." All the rest of summer, really.

Esme grinned at him. "Well of course!" she teased back. "A shoelace is obviously a life or death matter!" Grinning, she stuck her tongue out at him.

"Oh, how is Melody?" Esme asked. "I've bumped into loads of students so far with my habit of hanging around in Diagon Alley but I haven't seen her at all." She chuckled at the thought of Blake working with models. Nudging his arm, she winked at him and couldn't resist making a little comment. "Working with models, eh? Bet you're enjoying that!"

Smiling, she was glad that he closed up his book. Blake was lovely and she was always glad to have a chat with him. Well, she liked chatting with anyone if she was really honest, but Blake was a friend and therefore better than just any old person!
