The door to the girls dorm creaked open slowly, and Avery peeked inside. All the beds were already made, and noone seemed to be around. The other girls must've taken advantage of the sun and breeze and decided to spend it outdoors. Avery would, too, once she had found Jesseca, who, incidentally, was nowhere to be found. She furrowed her eyebrows and made her way to her own bed, tapping on the sheets lightly with both hands before sitting down on the edge.
Reaching under her bed, she pulled out her journal and looked through it, remembering what had been written in it since school started. It had only been slightly more than a month, and yet, it felt like it had been forever. She missed her father, yes, and she was worried for him. Slamming it shut, she placed it back safely in her trunk and leaned back against her pillow. Maybe she had eaten a little too much for breakfast, or maybe it was due to the late night studying she did the previous night, but Avery was starting to feel a little drowsy.
Deciding that taking a short nap before Jesse came back - if she ever did - wouldn't hurt, she closed her eyes and slowly dozed off, dreaming of shooting stars and freshly baked bread, subconsciously thinking what a weird combination that was, even for a dream.
