Emilia inspected each of his charms without actually touching them - uncertain exactly how the magic worked, she wasn't about to risk it. After all, she knew some protective charms would react rather badly to being handled by anyone but their intended wearer ( ... )

"That's settled then," she said with a satisfied nod. It didn't occur to the girl that she, being a year below the boy, might not be the best person to help him. But what else would you expect of Emilia - the girl had a natural tendancy to overestimate her own natural ability, just as she underestimated the ability of non-Purebloods.

She glanced out of the window again. Still drizzling, so no chance of a trip down to the lake. "Well, if you're not going to share the details of this mystery Ravenclaw, I'm going back to the Common Room. Coming?" She straightened her robes as she spoke, only looking back to Will as she finished her sentence. She'd no hopes of him telling her anything, not yet at least, but it was always worth asking. Besides, she'd never want to assume anything about Will Sparrow - he was far too good at proving her wrong.

"There IS no mystery Ravenclaw..." he murmured under his breath before sighing, drawing up a small smile, and shaking his head. "Actually, I probably should get out to the Owlery before too long. Got post to send out...Gran hasn't heard from me in a while."

Lucky that letter happened to be in his seemingly bottomless pockets, too. It was the perfect cop-out. After all, he wasn't willing to chance being interrogated by any other curious Slytherins, right about now. And if Liesl was lurking around...

Mrr. He'd just rather not think about that possibility, really.

"I'll probably head back in a bit though. Don't want to stay out in the rain too long," he lied, smile broadening as he gave her a faint little wave, feet already shifting to carry him backwards, toward the stairway.
