Cyrus walked slowly down the halls, his nose stuffed in a book. A book that he had cleverly charmed the title off the cover, he wasn't one to share his interest in literature with anyone. A habit he picked up second year of school, a couple of the older students had a field day laughing at his book.

He paused looking out the second floor window, he could see the courtyard. He blinked and looked about realizing he was in a completely different corridor than he had thought. He sighed shaking his head, that is what he gets for walking and reading at the same time. He tucked the book under his arm and walked down the hall heading for the stairs by the Gryffindor common room.

Best he get back to his own common room and sit tight while he continued his book. He stepped lightly down the stairs, stopping at the bottom. He saw Lauren walking down the hall towards the staircase. He leaned agaisnt the staircase hand railing, waiting for her to come to the steps.

Cyrus watched Lauren think it over, the corner of his lips quirked upward. She appeared to be processing something that wasn't her problem in a manner that was all too much like himself.

"I'm not sure anymore, she still seems to want to keep it quiet but let say she sees me with another female, like you, she will say that it is better that they know than if I play along with being single." Cyrus blew out a breath and shook his head.

"Kind of curious to who she has told, none of her house mates obviously."He tapped his book again with his fingers. "But she has been telling people, Dustin knew and confronted me about it."

"That doesn't seem fair to you," She spouted rather bitterly, not having realized how her tone might sound. "At all."

Lauren was rather irritated by now, if that wasn't obvious already. She was highly protective of her friends, and Cyrus, more than being just a pretty face to look at, was first and foremost her friend. The fact that his girlfriend was making them have a secret relationship made Lauren angry on his behalf. Obviously he was passive enough to where he wasn't going to argue with Niki about it... which only seemed to make the Gryffindor even more upset.

"So she's going to get upset with you for acting the same exact way that you always do... when she's the one who had this whole idea in the first place?" She scoffed, shaking her head in disgust, "I'm sorry Cyrus, but that seems rather selfish to me."

"Even if unfair it is something I got myself into isn't it?" He chastised himself mentally, he was talking like this relationship was not a good thing. In all it was a lot of work, but Niki was worth it to him.

He watched Lauren's face, she seemed to be processing this in a negative manner. It wasn't all bad now was it? They didn't have to worry about the whole student body watching them, which they would because Hogwarts students check their rights to a private love life at the door. So far Cyrus and Niki have managed to keep it as quiet as humanly possible in this school, and considering the houses they were from that was a good thing wasn't it?

Cyrus couldn't think of much else to contradict Lauren with but with a shrug. She had mentioned everything that his bitter part of himself was thinking about since Niki's outburst last week. He was grasping at straws, he needed to say something, anything. "She's not selfish." Oh that was weakly argued, he was having a lousy day at arguing today it seemed.
