Agis had been reading a very interesting biography on Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim when he had been waved over by a seventh year Gryffindor. With a dejected sigh he found himself at her side, the girl wanting his opinion on which books were the best to use for an in-depth essay on the care and keeping of Hebridean Blacks for her Care of Magical Creatures class. Care of Magical Creatures had never been his forté, but that hadn't stopped him from doing a fair bit of research on the subject so that he could point students in the right direction.

Scottish Dragons was, of course, one of his first selections. He wondered why she had even asked for his help in the first place, as this seemed like a fairly straight forward assignment. Nutritional Values of the Ruminant Mammal was already checked out, so he made a mental note to put her on the waiting list ( ... )

Cameo spotted the crimson crest on the girl’s robes, and bit her tongue. Really, she should have known.

Rather than awkwardly follow the pair across the room, she chose to sit at a nearby table. Glancing over the room before she sat, she saw the tables were nearly all empty- a rarity on a Monday afternoon. Oh, she glanced at the clock, the library will be closed in less than an hour. Students had been paying far closer attention to the curfew than ever before, and many of the younger students made it a point to be in their common rooms at least an hour early. She surprised herself by being unaware of the time.

Cameo had been meaning to read the first few pages while she waited, but the girl with Agis seemed to be unaware that she was in a library. Could she be any louder? Of course, being a Gryffindor, she apparently had to disagree with someone clearly more educated on the subject than herself, someone she had asked for help. She wondered, yet again, how he could deal calmly with these students who clearly just wanted him to ( ... )

Agis was just wondering why anyone would think that it would be okay to shelve Ancient Greek Brotherhoods of Wizards in the S section when Cameo approached him. He had quite forgotten about the clamorous Gryffindor, having had to deal with her type on numerous occasions throughout the day already. The only way to cope was to forget. His middle name really should have been Tolerance.

He hadn't noticed her until she spoke, her familiar voice immediately causing him to look up. He internally grimaced. Cameo Clarke always made him feel out of kilter. He suddenly realized that the library was mostly empty. He looked down at the book she held, interested in learning why she was showing him something as mundane as The Interrelations of Doxies and Trolls. Cameo was usually seen with something that had a bit more substance.

But she continued, and he was somewhat happy to find that what she was holding was a great deal more meaty then what it appeared to be. "The Journal of Edmondo De Luca," he said, recalling the title. "You've been ( ... )

Cameo was oblivious to the fact that the young librarian tried his best to avoid her, but she never believed that he would especially want her there, either. Her firm impression was Agis thought of her as any student; to help them when they ask and leave them be when they don’t. The thought that he, that anyone, would go out of their way to not speak with her would never occur to her simply because she was never particularly obnoxious or cruel- the breed of people she avoided. The only people she expected it from were those who resented her for being muggleborn, and she believed Agis did not know that and would not care if he did.

“I have wanted to read it for over a year now, but I only really started looking here last May... I think I asked you about it for the first time this year, though.”

She followed him to the front of the checkout desk, listening to his question. “Not every book,” she gave a sudden grin, her fingers moving swiftly to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “I would just look in sections I was interested in ( ... )
