Today was a good day for being drunk.

As good a day as any, anyways.

Sorrows back had been too inflamed to hobble down to the Great Hall that morning for breakfast, so, when he'd ( Read more... )

Claire had never had any qualms about when the best time to drink was. Any time was liquor time, in her opinion, as long as it was good liquor. Of course she didn't get drunk before classes, Merlin knows the kids didn't need to learn what drunk looked like from her. They'd figure it out well enough on their own.

So when Sum wound himself around her legs at breakfast, delivering the note from Sorrows, Claire was beyond pleased. She had scribbled back 'absolutely' and sent Sum on his way with a small piece of bacon, after all, a kneazle surely got hungry playing postaman.

She had gone back to her room to fill in time, searching her books for a potion or two. Something to help Sorrows because when he didn't show up for breakfast it normally meant he wasn't feeling his best. She could have marked some homework, but blergh. It was Saturday. Teachers enjoyed the weekends just as much as the kids.

Just as Sorrows wished, Claire arrived minutes early, a sharp rap on the door announcing her arrival.

Sum didn't need any directions from Sorrows. The moment the knocking came at the door, he lept down from his owner's lap and trotted over to the door, the little silver bell ringing. Jumping up, he hit the doorknob so that it fell open, welcoming Claire in. While he was not very fond of a few certain female teachers at this school, Sum was curiously affectionate with Claire. She did, after all, give him bacon-- not just scathing looks like Professor O'Dwyer was so fond of ( ... )

Claire peeked around the door, not surprised to see Sum was responsible for opening the door. He was a clever little blighter. "Hello handsome," she cooed softly, bending down to stroke him. She looked up to see Sorrows shuffling in his hair and she gave him a wide smile in return. "Hello there, other handsome." She stood and summoned a chair quickly, sititng opposite her favourite drining buddy. Her only drinking buddy, really. Mac Thorne didn't count seeing as he forced his presence on her. Cochon, she thought, sniffing with an air of pompous-ness.

But now was definitely not the time to get riled up about a certain Professor, so she focused on reading the label of the bottle that Sorrows was now tipping into a small saucer. Ooh. Good year.

"But of course he should have first sip," she exclaimed. There were cats; regular, mouse-catching, bird-killing animals. If Sorrows had offered the first sip to one of these Claire might have been dumbfounded. But then there was Sum...not a regular cat at all. Intelligent, crafty, ( ... )

Sorrows gave Claire a sweet smile. She really was such a lovely girl, and she was only about ten years younger than him, so he didn't have to feel like the creepy old man teacher, leering down at his former students. Not that Sorrows was one to leer on purpose, certainly, although he did have that gentleman's habit of calling his female students 'dear' and his male students 'son' which they sometimes seemed to think of as being a little too familiar. Oh well. Sorrows had no intentions to seem like that-- as far as anyone knew, he was as celibate as a monk ( ... )
