Brandon took one look at Lou's jumper and wished he'd thought to wear his as well. He'd been wearing it whenever he was patrolling (which he seemed to do a lot of lately, between the DA and being a Prefect), but he hadn't even thought of wearing it out tonight.
"It's um...you know, is...ing." He felt like adding, "I haven't been able to sleep at night because I keep seeing them in my dreams," would go right ahead and actually turn him into a giant girl, so he didn't say it. He liked his boy parts, thank you very much.
"Can you think of anything else we might need? I guess we could always just ask the room for it later if we had to. Oh, and can you shut the door? That way people can't get in?"
Oh, Lou had only been wearing the warm sweater for walking in the halls. She'd figured it would be cheating to wear it during practice. The fact that both of her dormmates had been picked off so recently made her very uncomfortable, as if it was only time before she herself was attacked
( ... )
"I..." Brandon paused to consider it. "Actually, I have no idea. I've just always heard--well, I say 'always' but I mean since I found out that it existed--that if you don't want anyone getting in while you're inside, shut the door. So...I always shut it. Not that I come here often alone." Which was completely true, because between going to classes and trying to, you know, not get killed, he hadn't had much free time lately.
"Don't feel bad, I'm pants at this stuff," he said forlornly. "We both know Shield Charms, though, right? So we really don't need to practice those?" He pointed his wand at one of the books on the shelf and muttered, "Accio!" When it was in his hand, he paged through it, then stopped on a spell that looked interesting. "How about this one?" he asked, showing it to Lou. "It's sort of like a Confundus, I think, but it seems more directed at addling someone's brain temporarily while you hit them with a different spell to disable said opponent."
Disable an opponent. So that's what they were calling it nowadays.
