Caine hadn't been asleep! He was only closing his eyes for second. Or 30 minutes. You know, same thing. But he was most certainly awake. Really!

Cough.

Needless to say, Esme surprised him. And scared him half to death. It WAS rather startling to be woken up by someone shrieking loudly in your ear, thank you very much. And by 'woken up' he obviously meant disturbed, what with the not being asleep. Right. Either way, he yelped rather loudly, nearly jumped. He sprang to attention, eyes opening wide as he looked around almost frantically before his attention settled on Esme. His eyes narrowed, and he gave an annoyed sort of humph. "You can't go about YELLING at people like that!" he scolded. "Jesus, you scared me!"

Did he just admit that? Bugger. He looked sheepish as he quickly added, "Well, you didn't scare ME, really. I don't get scared, what with being so manly and awesome," he corrected, scoffing at the notion of him being frightened. "But you COULD scare some other poor kid if you continue with that ( ... )

Esme was very pleased with the consequences of her trick and as such had a big grin on her face as Caine gave a little not-so-manly yelp. She giggled at his protestations of manliness. "Of course you're so manly and brave, Caine - I heard that excessively masculine little yelp that you gave. All men make little high-pitched noise when they're startled, right?"

Ignoring his brushing her off, she perched on the arm of his chair and nudged him with her shoulder. "You've already taken a nap, you phoney! And you're too lazy to get up so you might as well stay and entertain me from the depths of your comfy chair... because if you get up I'll just steal it, you know. And you'd hate that, you know you would!" She poked him playfully in the arm as she said this.

"Hey now, it wasn't THAT high pitched!" he objected. "And yes, as a matter of fact, we DO. Real men aren't afraid to yelp," he informed her, nodding knowingly. "It's like how real men wear pink. Same concept." And hey, he DID wear pink. No, it is NOT a color for pansies and ponces, thank you very much.

He gasped as she threatened to steal his chair. Oh no she DIDN'T. "You'd deprive my of my favorite chair, one that I will probably NEVER SIT IN AGAIN? Oh, that's cold, Esme. Just COLD." He shook his head, giving a disapproving tsk. "Man, what did I do to deserve friends like this?" he teased, nudging her back.

"But I SUPPOSE I could talk to you," he drawled, sounding reluctant to do any such thing. "I mean, it's not like I have anything much better to do." He sighed dramatically as if the whole thing was a giant pain but it was clear from the glint in his eyes that he was trying not to laugh. "So, how do you expect me to entertain you, hm?"

Esme personally thought guys should be very careful about wearing pink. Not necessarily for any implications about them, but because so many men just didn't look good in it. But anyway, that was probably a question to discuss with another girl, rather than Caine, she thought.

"I would do it in a second!" She laughed. "In fact, I shall do it right now!" and launchinh herself onto him, she tried to fit into the chair and force him out of it at the same time. Slightly hindered by her giggling fit, all she really ended up doing was sprawling across him.

Looking up at him, she grinned. "Entertainment? Well, I'd love you to do a little dance or something for my amusement, but I suppose I'm rather hindering you at the moment, hmm?"
