Esme was heading as slowly as she could towards the library. She didn't want to study, but she'd been letting a few too many assignments build up and she should really take the opportunity of this free time to do some of them. Schoolwork was just so boring, though! She was looking around for someone - anyone! - that she knew that she could talk to and distract instead of working when suddenly someone crashed into her - and then started blaming her for it!

Esme was so not in the mood to just apologise and move on while shaking her head about the rudeness of certain Houses. "Excuse me?" she snapped, her eyes flashing in anger. "Please refrain from being so incredibly clumsy and then trying to pass the blame off on others, you stupid oaf. Some of us can manage to walk through corridors that aren't exactly crowded without nearly killing people but I see that is beyond you."

She sniffed disparagingly. "Slytherins."

James' upper lip curled slowly as the other girl spoke. His eyes grew cold at each word that left her mouth. Who the hell did she think she was? James couldn't help but laugh aloud at the her nerve. "You think you can talk down to me?" He demanded, folding his arms across his chest. "5 points from Gryffindor for disrespecting a Prefect." Oh, how James relished the power bestowed on him by the school.

Why was it that Gryffindors saw themselves as creatures of perfection? It was as if they felt they could do no wrong. Everything that happened was down to a fault in someone else. James despised their arrogant attitude. They were filth, lower life forms...and they should learn to behave as such!

Esme was furious. Not only did he walk into her, he then took points from her house? Admittedly she hadn't been very friendly, but he'd been so rude and definitely deserved it! "What?!" She exclaimed! "You can't take points from Gryffindor because you were clumsy enough to walk into me! I didn't show you disrespect, I merely gave you the set down you deserve. If you're a Prefect then act like one and apologise!"

Damn it, why did she always have to go and get all riled up! And by James as well, who totally wasn't worth it and was sure just to take more points from her beloved house. Esme hated losing points. It was just so unfair!

Esme certainly didn't see herself as perfection, but it certainly wasn't Gryffindor that were the lower life forms! That would be the Slytherins in their slimy little dungeons whose prefects had to take points off people for no reason just to make themselves feel good. It was pathetic.

James snorted, as if! "I can take points from whomever I want," James snapped, not pleased at her reaction. Most people would choose the safe route and shut up, of course...most people here referred to anyone below 4th year as they were the ones most likely to be affected by James and his point-taking abilities. "Calling someone a 'stupid oaf' is showing disprespect," He added harshly.

"I believe you owe me the apology. You insulted me." He smirked and rested his weight more on his right leg as he waited, quite content with the idea that he'd won that battle. Gryffindors were far too thick for their own good sometimes, they really should learn to control their temper. After all, it just got them into trouble! But he was just wasting his time, it wasn't as if filth like that would ever learn...
