“Avery.” Soren said as he leaned over her from his standing position. While the Gryffindor table might have been a little empty, the others weren’t and as always, students in the Great Hall meant above average noise levels everywhere. He didn’t want her to miss his words or anything.

“Are you busy? Besides with lunch, I mean.” Because they were in different years and had rather different schedules, it had been a bit of trouble trying to bump into her during one of her spares. Surprising, considering how often they bumped into each other when it was unintentional. He could tell there were a few people staring at them so he kept his expression light and cheerful - no need to make other people wonder if something was amiss, it was better if they thought it was a date instead.

Nodding to the door and back at her he asked, “Want to go eat your lunch outside with me?”

Soren had nodded slowly while Avery listed out all the information she knew about the group. Which was... sparse.

He leaned forward to bring himself a little closer to the girl, and with the most serious expression on his face that he could muster, he said "What we discuss in here is a secret, alright? And completely not a joke so please believe me. Alright?"

Since he was known for being full of tricks and jokes, those that weren't his close friends probably didn't know whether he was playing around or not. Soren did hope this wasn't one of those instances.

"I received a letter from Harry Potter asking me to start up D.A. again."

Avery nodded back as he spoke. "Of course I'd believe you. At the moment you might just be one of the very few people I actually trust," she told him. Besides, the few times they had met this year had thought her a thing or two about how serious Soren could get. That is not to say she didn't like seeing this side of him.

"Wait, Harry Potter? Asked you to start DA again? But why.." She stopped just as she started to ask. Erik being attacked.. His brother murdered.. Niki's note in her journal. "He's getting stronger, isn't he?" she asked after a moment of hesitation, not wanting to refer to the Dark Lord by his name. "But why had he come to you? I mean, wouldn't he go straight to Dumbledore or something?"

Soren was touched that Avery trusted him to such an extent. And to think the first thing he did at the start of this year was charm her hair pink as a teasing gift. "Thanks for believing me, Avery."

He shook his head again. "He didn't come to me. Jaci brought me his letter and after talking to her, it sure didn't sound like a joke. After that, I contacted him through the way he specified and I've been in contact ever since. I still haven't seen him face to face though. Only Jaci has, the lucky duck.

"But, since he wants to start up D.A. again, I guess he really is getting stronger. That, and we might have a direct threat directly within these walls. I think it's the latter since I hardly doubt Harry Potter would need us if it's outside of this castle."

"You're welcome," Avery answered simply. In the past Soren had been very playful and jovial, but he had never done anything too serious which could've broken her trust in him. And she had to learn to trust people more now, which is something she couldn't really bring herself to do in the past.

So, Jaci had been the one to meet Harry? Avery was surprised noone else had seen him, but thought that if he had wanted to keep his visit a secret, he'd be able to accomplish that very well, seeing as how he's one of the most powerful wizard around.

"That's terrible, the fact that we might have enemies within the walls of Hogwarts. I mean, it's supposed to be the safest place around, though I guess with him still free and running, nowhere is really safe." She stood up just then, unable to keep still any longer. "What are your plans, then? I mean, I'm going for it, if that's what you're asking. But I'd still want to know, roughly, what he needs us to do." She knew they couldn't be too careful in situations like this.

He leaned back when Avery stood up. Soren had been worried about her the most since she had mentioned about waiting it all to end and no more, yet now here she was, all fired up and ready to go.

"My plans are to help him restart up the second generation of D.A." Soren stated simply. "I'm still not completely sure where he wants us to go with all of this. And.." He reached out to take her arm and pull her back down to her seat. "I'm pretty sure he doesn't really intend for us to be the ones facing him out there. We're still in school."

Hands hugging herself loosely, Avery started shifting from one foot to the other. It seemed quite surreal to her, the restarting of DA and how things might go on from there.

She let Soren pull her back to the chest and sat back down on the space she had previously occupied. The plans still sounded rather sketchy to her, but that might only be because things were still in their initial stages, she reasoned. Sure, she had her doubts, since she was not entirely sure they could face him on their own, barely out of school themselves.

But at Soren's reassurance, she let her hands drop to her side and looked back at him. "I have to admit, it does seem unclear at this point what we are to do. But I want you to know that, though I sometimes feel the weight of the impending war bearing down on me, the one thing I really want to do is to fight it. Fight him." She had not come back to the Wizarding world for nothing, after all.

To see Avery looking like this made him wonder if he had made the right choice in telling her. It wasn’t like they were using it as a study group like the original D.A.’s intention. This second generation meant something a little more serious, at least, that was how Soren had interpreted things to be. Unlike in Harry Potter’s Hogwarts career, they were in a full out war with deaths and missing people hitting, he looked at Avery, a lot closer to home.

He clasped his hands together and rested his elbows on his thighs, all the while admiring her spirit and opinion on the war. “I’m not sure if I like the idea of you ever having to fight against him but I do think preparing ourselves is a good idea. As much as I like spontaneity, I don’t like harsh surprises.”

The death of Erik’s brother that morning in the news had been a harsh surprise. Just yesterday he was talking to the younger boy and he seemed happy and eager to join. Soren wondered if he still thought the same way.

"I get what you mean about harsh surprises. But don't worry about me, okay? I can take care of myself, trust me." Obviously, she'd been used to look out for her own back, but this is an entirely different case altogether. There was too much at stake here.

Avery kept quiet for a moment, letting her mind absorb all that Soren had just told her. Then she looked back at him. "I suppose you must be planning to talk to quite a few people about this. Are you holding up okay?" she asked, looking very concerned. She clutched her hands together, and rested her chin on them, eyes not leaving Soren once.

Looking up at her, he gave her a wry smile. How thoughtful of her to have noticed that. "I’m good, I suppose. You are right about a lot of people to talk to. The hardest thing about it is deciding whether that person is trustworthy and then getting them to believe me.” He didn’t make any comment about deciding to obliviate anyone who didn’t want to come along after hearing the story. It wasn’t something he liked to do but it wouldn’t be a secret anymore if they spread it around and eventually to the ears of the Death Eater prodigies that probably lurked in the walls. Although, Soren had not had to use the charm yet though.

“That reminds me. Do you have anyone to recommend? I’m mostly familiar with those around my year only.”

It had always been a point for Avery to observe those around her. So it wasn't such a surprise for her to see that Soren was a little stressed out over what he really had to do. Talking had never been one her strongest point, unless it was with her closest friends. "It IS a demanding task. If there's anything I can help with, just let me know?" Of course, Avery knew a lot about trust issues. She had had it herself. Maybe until now she still did, but she learning, so that's an improvement, isn't it?

"There are only a few I can think of. Erik? But after what happened to his brother.. I don't know if he'll be up for it." A slight frown passed over her features, but she quickly got rid of it. "Trefor and Zoe, I think. And Juhi, too." As she said their names, she had a feeling Soren had already put them on his list, if he had given things that much consideration.

"By the way, you pulled me out of the Great Hall before lunch had barely started. Have you had anything to eat?" she asked, tilting her head slightly in a questioning manner.

Soren couldn’t help but grin at her. “I wonder if our minds are connected? Those people were the first that came to mind except for the Juhi person. I haven’t ever spoken to her yet.”

By chance he had spoken to Erik just yesterday morning, the boy had been enthusiastic to join, even after hearing of the possible risks. If what Erik had told him in their conversation yesterday still held true, than the younger boy would only have more of a reason to stay interested. However, he couldn’t fathom what Erik might have been going through at the moment right now though. If he chooses to back out, Soren would more than understand.

At the mention of lunch, Soren’s stomach let out a growl to answer her question before he could even open his mouth. He blushed, “Sorry about that.” And patted his stomach in hopes of quieting it. “I grabbed a bread roll this morning. It’s been a few hours.”

[ooc; I haven’t finished the threads with them yet so I’m not going to mention if they’re in or not. ^^ But I think they will be.]

"Is that so? They might be, for all we know," Avery said before realising what she had just suggested and felt a warm sensation creeping up her cheeks.

She tore her gaze away from Soren and stared out the little window of the shed through which she could see the light drizzle that had begun to fall. Letting out a soft chuckle as the sound escaped from him, she said to him, "Oh dear, I think we might be stuck here for awhile, looking at the weather. Is there anyway we can get something to fill your stomach? Anything you might have stashed here?" She stood up and walked towards one of the cupboards, running her fingers lightly on the side of the door.

((OOC: No problem. Seems like they'll agree though. I saw Zoe exploding. Scary *shudders*))

“Hmm, maybe they are~” Soren echoed her with an amused expression on his face.

Perhaps it was a good thing that he and Trefor had stocked up their ‘secret (not anymore) headquarters’ with more food just the week before. Of course, most of it were gone by now but there were still some Bertie’s beans here and there. He stood up to go over to one of the boxes stacked near the ceiling of the shed and pulled one down, he opened it to reveal some games, the every flavoured beans and some muggle, packaged chocolate chip cookies still in an unopened bag.

“Well, my dear Avery. It seems we’re going to be keeping each other company here for awhile due to the rain, we might as well get comfortable.” He winked at the girl and shared his stash over.

Avery looked with interest as he sauntered over to one of the boxes and opened it to reveal so many different snacks. Her face broke into a wide grin as she spotted the cookies, knowing she could never resist some good ol' chocolate chips. She reached over and picked one bag out, and then made her way over to her 'seat', smiling all the way.

"Good thing you've these." She gestured at the bag. "I'm beginning to think I need my sugar fix for today. Would you like to open this, or can I?" She knew she shouldn't just open it without permission, so it might be better to ask him first. She made a mental note to herself not to touch the every-flavoured beans, though.

"Where did you get these Muggle cookies, anyway?"
