Caine had no problem sleeping through the rain. If anything, he found it rather soothing. But thunder storms? Not so much. While the rain pounding steadily against the dorm window may have lulled him to sleep, the thunder only disrupted the monotony and caused him to practically jump. It had the opposite effect than rain had, really. The thunder had merely woken him up and refused to let him go back to sleep. And there was only so long that a boy could sit in bed with nothing to do but stare at the ceiling before he got restless ( ... )

Melody wasn't the type to sleep through noise. She wasn't the type to sleep through anything, really. She didn't even usually feel like sleeping. It took an hour of scented candles and meditating to get her to feel slow enough to actually lie down. Odd. Last time she checked, she didn't have ADHD...did she? Hmm ( ... )

Perhaps Melody's upbeat manner and far too sunny disposition would grate anyone else at this hour but Caine wasn't quite anyone else. If anything, it seemed to be contagious, and his grin only widened. "Pfft. Haven't you realized that I have a FAR higher energy capacity than most? I'm like water and it's heat capacity, only less physics-y and hotter in a COMPLETELY different way," he teased, smile ever present.

And that was about the limit of his science knowledge. Hey, just because he was muggle born didn't mean he actually knew what physics was; he wasn't even sure if water HAD a high heat capacity. But he doubted that that knowledge would ever have a huge impact in his life so he certainly wouldn't lose sleep over it ( ... )
