Week Name/Date/Time: 'Careers Abound' / Thursday, December 8th / 7:00 PM Location: Gryffindor Common Room Open To: Jackie Currently Involving: Ari, Jackie
Jackie had been reading her Charms book, trying to mark selections that she thought would be helpful to the Club. In her lap, she held her scruffy-looking teddy bear with a blue octopus-blob handkerchief tied around its neck. She knew she was fifteen, and probably looked silly or immature for bringing the bear downstairs, but she didn't care. After Soren and Akira had left, and Gabe said 'good-bye', she found solace in something familiar. Besides, it was soft and cuddly, and good company.
When Ari bounded to the seat next to her, Jackie looked up in surprise. "Hey, Ari!" She smiled, setting her book aside. "I've been okay, I guess. Adjusting... so many things happening, you know..."
"How have you been?" Jackie asked. "I heard we're having a Winter Ball this year... any prospects on your list? Should we just become part of Sly's harem?" She raised her eyebrows, teasing.
She nodded knowingly at that. "Yeah, there has been a bit to adjust to," she agreed. But they didn't need to talk about that. There were plenty of more things to discuss that were far more interesting and far less serious. "You weren't working, were you?" she asked, sneaking a glance at the title of the book Jackie had just set down. "Jackie! It's Thursday! The day before Friday, aka the first day of the weekend. You shouldn't be doing a crazy thing like homework!" Perish the thought! ...Even if Ari's logic didn't make too much sense, in typical Ari fashion
( ... )
Jackie giggled at Ari scolding her, trying to poke a hole in Ari's logic (which probably would be unsuccessful - but even so, Jackie still tried). "But Ari... if I get it finished now, I won't have to worry about it during the weekend." She grinned. Not that she had Charms homework to finish (actually, she had a bit of history to work on but she always procrastinated with that subject), but Ari didn't know that
( ... )
Ari waved a hand dismissively at that. "That's what CLASSES are you," she corrected her. Doing your homework in your free time? Completely overrated. It was so much more fun to just work during the classes you didn't like and then you were free to slack off all evening!
...One wonders how Ari managed to get into any classes this year with thinking like that.
Hee. Now there's an idea! "I might just have to. I don't think he'd go without a bit of- well, loads of- help." Actually, she was fairly convinced that he was planning on sitting in the deserted library as the dance went on. And that wasn't at all expectable. She would just have to talk him into going and explain that it's for his girl training and such. And by talk, she meant drag him off, quite possibly against his will. Yes, Ari was most definitely more persistent than persuasive
