It was something that had occasionally occurred at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was not ideal, it was not preferred, but it unfortunately happened every once in a while and it was never a pleasant experience.

Death.

The group of people down the large corridor moved in hushed tones, questions and accusations flying left and right while they attempted to relocate two long, white-sheet-covered objects. Even a few dark-cloaked Ministry officials were talking gruffly, writing down details and taking note of every word that was said, every person present. No one was innocent until proven guilty in this situation.

Caught up in too many questions and not enough answers, the gaggle of people didn't even notice the student who had unknowingly stumbled across the scene. If they had, they'd have likely sent them away quickly and without explanation, flustered faces and shaking voices being the only evidence of something terribly wrong. As it was, they continued bickering -- stress levels were high, and emotions even higher. Not knowing that they were being watched, they bumbled along not as carefully as they should have.

And in an instant, due to one Professor becoming agitated by the Official's question, everything changed. A hand flew out to shove the notepad away, a foot tripped up around another, a crisp white sheet slipped from one of the objects.

Not an object. A body. A dead body, one of two.

Nicholette DuBois' cold, blue eyes stared out wordlessly at the poor student who played witness to it all.
