Week Name/Date/Time: 'Back to School' / Monday, September 5th / 7 a.m. Location: Teachers' Lounge Open To: Any Professor Currently Involving: Gil, Terrwyn, Larae, NPC-Snape, Mona
It was too damn early in the morning, that was for sure. There was this little thing called sleep, and Terr had been enjoying it highly over the summer. To be so rudely thrown into the groove of teaching once more, for another -- what? nine months?
It was atrocious.
Of course, the upside of having been a Professor at Hogwarts for so many years was the fact that she knew all of the other Professors' schedules, and she knew that Gil Weston was now in the lounge.
He always made a damn good cup of coffee.
Pushing open the door to the Lounge, she headed straight for the coffee, and poured herself a cup, before settling down next to him on the couch. "Any particular reason that you're looking like you've not one happy thought in the world?"
Gil barely stirred as his colleague entered and moved about, getting herself a cup of coffee and settling down next to him. As she asked her question, his expression did not change in the least. He turned the page again, kept his eyes on the paper, and replied mutteringly, "Perhaps because I do not?"
He cleared his throat, then finished reading the article he'd turned the page for before looking at her at last.
"Any particular reason that you're looking as though that cup of coffee is your only hope for being coherent?" His brow rose before he turned back to the paper. "School, Terrwyn. It's never a cause for many happy thoughts."
It was honestly too bad that it was so early; she might have been able to spar back on that point. As it was, the coffee probably was her only hope for being coherant this damn early, and he well knew that.
She had a smile on her face as she took a long and luxurious sip of the coffee, letting out a satisfied sigh as she swallowed it. Ah, yes. There was that feeling of awareness, slowly trickling through her.
Turning slightly so that she could peer over his shoulder at the paper, she replied, "Then why, my dear, are you a Professor at this lovely institution?"
They seemed to have this conversation at the beginning of every year. In fact, they'd probably had this very conversation ever since he'd begun teaching there -- which had to have been a good ten years now.
"Because," he replied, turning the page again. His eyes scanned quickly, almost bored-like, before he continued, "it gives me a perfectly viable excuse to sit about in an office full of books dealing with my passion, translating things and being an all around nerd."
Something about Gil's tone made even the word 'nerd' sound proper.
He closed the paper, thwapping her on the leg with it lightly.
"Besides, there is the occasional student that shines a little bit brighter, who really needs proper Runes training to succeed in their chosen field, and make my days a bit worthwhile. You can't deny that."
He nodded slowly, watching her over the rim of his mug as he took a long sip of coffee.
