The coldness of the water cut through her warming charm, causing her to shiver at the spillover. October was not the best time for swimming, but it was the only sport she had any desire to practice. Quidditch was still alien to her and she didn't particularly like running, and there was no gym to the best of her knowledge (though lord only knew what secrets Hogwarts held). She was getting quite good at the warming and cold-resistance charms, and how to layer them so that she didn't catch hypothermia, but as the weather cooled it was becoming clear to her that she was going to need something more powerful to keep it up over the winter. Or she could forget the whole thing, but the thought of being cooped up in the castle made something deep in her gut twist in a manner reminiscent of claustraphobia. As she hit the rocks again, she paused and looked up at the sky. It was clear, though the scent of rain was on the wind, and she could tell by the sun's position that it was probably around noon. She'd missed lunch, but it didn't much matter. She'd simply hold out until dinner. She climbed out, a tiny, tanned girl in a plain, black one-piece bathing suit, and picked up her towel. Thankfully, it was still there. She was always afraid of someone stealing it as a prank. The breeze chilled her skin and she shivered violently. She rarely brought her wand out to the lake - there was no good way to hold onto it while she was swimming, and if someone stole it, well... she wouldn't be defenseless, but they'd definately have an advantage on her.
