MBTI types and Hogwarts houses

Hey, people!
Lately I'ven been reading a lot about personality types, from astrology signs (not only sun but moon signs and ascednents too) to MBTI personality types. I've learned that I am a INFJ, I am only now starting to comprehend what it means, more or less.

16personalities seems like a good accurate test ( Read more... )

"They love patterns, and spotting discrepancies between statements could almost be described as a hobby, making it a bad idea to lie to an INTP" Lol, very Slytherin, indeed.

INFJ fits me in most aspects but then I don't feel as altruistic as INFJ are considered and I don't think I'm perfectionist to a fault. But the introvert that behaves like an extrovert, who is decisive, passionate and creative is an accurate description of myself. INFJ are idealistic and they need a cause to follow so it makes sense with a somewhat-but-not-really-that-introverted Gryffindor.

I'm a Ravenclaw ENFJ, which I think makes me a bit of an odd Ravenclaw stereotypically. ENFJs do love playing with ideas, and tend to be supportive and open-minded, which I've always seen as very Claw, and I think that the intuitive Ravenclaw is definitely a stereotype, so that's very fitting.

I find the extrovert/introvert subtyping very interesting in relation to Claw. I think -- especially at HiH -- we often think of Ravenclaws as bookworms, looking for solitude with a book in our arms. We do seem to have our love for books, and for activities that can be done alone, and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people who would sort Ravenclaw also test as introverted on MBTI. Still, I think there's a good bit of space for extroverted types in Ravenclaw, too. We're the ones who do our reading in cafes. ;)

I do think there are quite a few Ravenclaws like that! (That actually describes a friend of mine to a T... he's the kind of person who throws parties all the time because he likes gathering all his nerds to him.)

I'm an INTJ, but I'm inclined to think any Hogwarts house can be reflected in a personality type. I'm a Ravenclaw-inflected INTJ, but I think INTJ-ness can also manifest itself in a Slytherin, Hufflepuff, or Gryffindor was as well.

I'd say the same goes for astrological signs. I once saw a pretty interesting description of what people under each sun sign are like in each of the Hogwarts houses. (And yeah, when you bring in ascendant and moon signs, that's when it gets really interesting!)

EDIT: to actually answer your question, yes, the standard description of an INTJ sounds like equal parts Ravenclaw and Slytherin. However, I never think those descriptions sound much like me personally. I'm not a robotic, goal-oriented scientist. However, I AM an introvert who relies on intuitive perception, trusts logical thinking over emotional convictions, and is really stressed out by disorganization. ;P

I agree with you! I don't think belonging to a MBTI type or astrology signs means you're from a specific house. I am sure in the stadistics there are a majority of a house per MBTI type or zodiac sign but that's it. I haven't read the description for the INTJ but the letters seems like the stereotype of ravenclaw (Inteoverted,Intuitive,Thinking and Judging) and as you say, it fits slytherin too.

I'm a Ravenclaw INTJ but I got INFJ with the test on 16personalities. Generally when I test the I and J are strong and the N/S and T/F could go either way depending on the test and how I'm feeling at the time. There are bits of a few of the personalities that I relate to though there's a lot of INTJ that feels very accurate to me.

INFJ is supposed to be the rarest type (only 1% of the population) but it seems like a lot of people is getting that type on 16personalities. It's difficult to really know what type you're, specially because it's difficult to learn the differences between all the personalities, it's a lot more complex that it seems with the functions. (at least, to me)

There was a much longer quiz on this site that I took that gave me INTJ but it's not free anymore. :(

Damn! I really need to do an extensive research because I am not sure INFJ is really my type, even when it's awesome (a 1% of the population? I want to be THAT special!) Maybe I am, maybe I am not. I think these types are based on the cognitive functions or something like that, I will read more about it next week.

Hufflepuff ISTJ. Sounds about right, as I'm honest (and very blunt on occasion), responsible, calm and practical. Sounds like Hufflepuff traits to me ;) Apparently ISTJ's also "represent the epitome of family values" so yeah, the shoe fits so why change it?

(the most interesting part was that Hermione is a known ISTJ - I've always related strongly to her because of our similar characteristics..)
