According to my Goodreads, I read fairytale inspired books (re-telings and the likes), dystopian (but that mostly comes courtesy of The Hunger Games and its following) and books where it's mostly like reading a slice of somebody's life lol. Most of what I read is contemporary. But I'm game for trying to new genres of fiction.
Ohh that sounds really interesting. *goes to check it out* hahaha. Apparently Cinder is on my Goodreads to-read list. I think I might just move the book up from my list.
Oi... I read so much of everything that its quite sad. However, I'm not sure if I really have anything that meets your exact criteria. If you want, you can check out my book review blog www.redwineandbooks.com it has reviews of all the books I've read, some I've loved, some I've hated. I have reviews scheduled to be posted from now through April so there is always something new as I'm always reading
( ... )
Catherynne Valente! She's a white woman, but has certainly been in non-traditional relationships, and women, characters of color, and GSRM characters feature heavily in her stories -- and they're well, well done. I'd rec The Orphan's Tales and Six-Gun Snow White in particular. Both of these rework fairy tales, and they're both amazing books.
Also, OCTAVIA BUTLER. Dyslexic black woman who wrote a lot of really, really wonderful science fiction and fantasy; a lot of her work deals really directly with issues of race, gender, sexuality, etc. I read Kindred when I was maybe 15 and it was a total game-changer for me.
You might find Afrofuturism in general pretty interesting, if you've not seen it before; I don't know a lot about it, so I can't say much, but it seems like it could be up your alley. It's a sci-fi genre, so you might not be into it so much, but it could be worth checking out.

I mostly stick to fictions...or academic-feminist books and memoirs that could pass as fiction
My favorite genres.
I read in French and in English so both languages are a go!
Same.
I am going to come up with a list of recommendations and get back to you. (If you want to browse my Goodreads, go for it.)
