Paternal angst

I'm leaving on the country on Friday. In about 48 hours I'll be on a plane, London-bound.

Meanwhile I have a LOT to do. I need to finish packing, sorting through stuff, buying things I need, double checking that I have important docs, sorting out my job-hunt interviews, working out what I'm shipping, etc etc etc.

I don't have time to be angsty about ( Read more... )

I hope you have a wonderful time away. Sorry I didn't get to see you again in happier circumstances before you leave.

The gaps suck. But that is what friends are for. *hugs* Recognising that the gap is there and it is not all your fault is good, and essential for sanity.
Good luck with all the last minute stuff! Do you have lists? Lists are good. 48 hours till the adventure begins, how exciting!

Hello gorgeous Jess - it figures that you're the organised type that likes lists. :)

I've been making notes and lists for things to do for over a year. I definitely made lists of things to do, but I'm very much someone who does things at their own pace, in their own order, rather than a person of method. Even if I write a physical list, I'm more likely to do things based on my mental list, and to float from task to task depending on what takes my attention at the time.

My dad tries hard but he always has been and always will be baffled by me. He still loves me and I think that's more important. :)

And we get you, and we love you. :)

I don't think my dad even tries - I don't think he's capable. It's probably a cultural thing...but you're right, its the love that is important.

And...thanks :)

yes that's what asian parents are good at. My parents think you're awesome, but then, they don't live with you. They have this impression that you are just a darling child :)

I am not sure that you are leaving for 2 yrs so it'd be funny once they know.

We just have to take it all with a grain of salt and just know that they just say some things cuz they love you

such as: "you've been going to the gym so much, why are you still fat?"

or the classic " do you go to the gym to eat? "

Lol! Asian parents can say the darndest things!
I'm sure your parents opinion of me has taken a bit of a dive, knowing that I'm running off to the UK without work - but it'll just perk up again if I end up landing a flash job and making good money and all that. Pffft parents.
