Michael saw Talia heading down the corridor and said a silent prayer of thanks. His first stop was her quarters but she wasn't there. He started to panic thinking at anytime Talia would run into Susan or Irinia as she thought of herself.
"Talia", the security chief called out. Talia stopped at the shout of her name and lifted her head. She sighed when she saw that it was Michael. All she wanted to do was be alone.
"Michael please I just want to rest. I am very tired."
"I need to speak with you and it's rather urgent."
"Fine Michael but could you make this quick." She knew she was being difficult but she didn't care.
Talia opened the door to her quarters and Michael followed her inside. Once inside she gestured for Michael to have a seat on her couch.
Michael was trying to compose his thoughts. "What I am about to say is going to sound strange but please bear with me."
Talia sighed, she was starting to loose her patience, "Michael just say what you came to say."
Taking a deep breath the security chief began his story.
"Remember when I was called away during dinner?"
The telepath nodded her head, urging the chief to continue. Michael struggled with his next words.
"A woman who bares an uncanny resemblance to... he stopped and tried to continue. He tried opening his mouth and quickly closed it a few times. The next word came out in a strangled whipser.
"Susan." There he said it, he looked up at Talia's face trying to gauge her reaction.
Talia blinked and just stared at Michael. The early incident in the lift suddenly popped into her mind.
"I wasn't imagining things after all."
Michael was confused. "What do you mean? Have you seen her?"
"No but while I was on the lift earlier I could have sworn I heard her voice. I dismissed it thinking it was just my imagination. It definitely was her voice. I would know it anywhere. Tears started to well up in the telepath's eyes. She turned to Michael and placed her hand on his arm. "How is this possible?" What does it mean, is it Susan?"
Michael looked down at the telepath's hand he covered hers with his hand. He looked up into those sad eyes.
"In my gut I believe it's Susan. But all the evidence points to something else. She says her name is Irinia Kralick and that she has never been to Babylon 5."
"Could she have memory loss from her accident?"
"That's what I was thinking but she has memories of growing up on Proxima 3. This could be a case of mistaken identity. I have Zack checking on her story."
Talia was processing everything that Michael was telling her. She couldn't believe that after all these years Susan could actually be alive. A small spark of hope started to build within her.
"I want to see her." She didn't intend on voicing that particular thought but couldn't take it back now.
Michael couldn't believe what just came out of the telepath's mouth.
"Are you out of your mind?"
Talia flinched at Michael's angry outburst. Seeing this he instantly regretted his actions. Calmly he began to explain why that wouldn't be the best idea.
"I don't think that would a wise decision." She won't know who you are. She'll look at you with a blank expression. I don't want to see you hurt Talia."
"Michael I need to see her. I have no expectations. I understand that she won't know me but I know her. Just to be able to see her will be enough."
Tears were sliding down Talia's cheeks. Michael couldn't stand to see her cry. He knew it was a bad idea for the two to meet but he couldn't refuse.
"Alright Talia, but on one condition that I go with you."
Talia was ready to protest but quickly changed her mind. Quietly she answered, "Ok Michael."
"Let me go in first and explain a little to her. We've had a few heated discussions about her resemblance to Susan. She might not be that happy about you wanting to see her but I will do my best."
"Thank you Michael you don't know how much this means to me. I need to change and then we can head out."
