» I got eye contacts today! And you should know that I have an eye phobia. Everything about eyes I find icky and terrifying. But after a long and good discussion with my manicure lady last Tuesday I finally decided to just go for it and went to my optician this morning. The nice man waited patiently while I freaked out and showed me how to do it. ( Read more... )

I've always wanted contacts and when I was sixteen I tried it once at a cheap optician but didn't get the good advice and help I was hoping for so that didn't really work out. I felt it was time now to try it again.

Pushing the eyelashes back really helps! But I still blink almost every damn time. I guess I just need to give my eyes some time to adjust to the new situation. Lol, yeah, a brute force method might help. I'm still a little freaked out by the whole 'ewwww, i need to TOUCH my EYES' stuff though. XD

I immediately got my contacts in the first time but I'm just not scared haha, heard a lot of people who didn't get them in immediately.

+ The new Glee episodes are EPIC.

LOL! You brave gal. :P I'm just freaked out by the idea of actually touching my eyes. It's so weird and icky. But I'm forcing myself to get over it. I'm glad to hear that there are other people like me who're struggling with their first tries. :P

OH YAY! \o/ I'm looking forward to see the new eps! :D

To those of you on my flists with contacts; did you also have a hard time getting your contacts in when you first got them?

oh yes. but now it takes about one-tenth of a second, haha. i don't do it the way you're "supposed" to but i think my way is so much more effective. i push my eye wide open with my left hand forefinger and my right hand middle finger, then pop the contact in with my right forefinger..... no idea if that made sense.

Your icon --> my face today. Whenever I tried to get my contacts in, I looked exactly like that. xD

Anyway, thank you for your advice! That's exactly how I got my contacts in earlier. And so far it's been the best method. \o/

What I do is rest the contact on my right index finger, use my right middle and ring finger to pull my lower lid down a little and my left fingers (whatever is comfortable) to pull my lid up.

Make sure your contact is wet enough! They say ~not to~ but I always put a couple of drops IN my contact and then just kind of ... do this pop/roll action... onto my eye and the extra lubrication keeps it from sticking to my finger.

Thank you. :D That's some really great advice you gave me! My main problem today was that my contacts kept sticking to my fingers. Whenever I thought 'yeaaah, I got it!' and I pulled my finger back, there was the damn contact still on my finger, lol. Maybe I'll try your method tomorrow. :D

Hope you get used to the contacts soon lol, it'll probably get easier putting them in :)

Thank you! :D If I give it some time (I can't expect my eyes to adjust to the new situation right away, even though I wish they did :P) I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Just need a little more practise. xD
