This time Balthazar’s leaning against a tree, looking smug, and Castiel is already impatient with him.
“Balthazar, you called? Do you have any news on the case that Dean and Sam are pursuing?”
Balthazar waves his hand dismissively. “Nothing much yet on that front, but Cassie, I’ve been keeping a close eye on your boyfriend, and...” he pauses for dramatic effect, waggling his eyebrows, “I think you may have to call off the wedding.”
“Balthazar, we don’t have time for this. Do you have anything more on - wait, what... what? Who are you talking about?”
“Well your boyfriend, Dean, of course! And really, I’d reconsider those curtains you’ve been itching to hang. He and Sam were... there were noises. I couldn’t get close enough to see anything, but from the sound of it, Sam was being very vigorous...”
Castiel feels his face grow hot. “Dean and Sam do not engage in... those activities together. If you’ve nothing else to report, then there are other -”
Balthazar’s grin is a mile wide. “Maybe they don’t in the other reality, but here Dean really seems to enjoy when Sam -”
Castiel doesn’t stay long enough to hear the rest of his sentence.
