I have to say, being considered a freak since kindergarten, no. Even if it's easier to be normal. And I seriously have no idea who the 'you' is. That's what scares me so much about the media. They control us all by keeping us in a constant state of retroactive panic.

i can sort of see that, but if we're not trying to assimilate, why fight so hard for marriage? it's a straight institution, and it's only been used to oppress us in the past. but i'm not advocating separatism, anyway. it was dumb in the black civil rights movement, it was dumb in second wave feminism, and it's dumb now. but how much of the marriage fight is 'we are just like you' and how much is because we wanna get married.

'you' freaks me out, too. i just don't know who the 'other' is in the gay community, because there isn't much uniting us, physically, economically, socially, other than our orientation. anyone could be gay, so everyone should be accepted into the community. who does that leave to 'you'?

Did you ever watch Queer As Folk? In the series finale, one of the main characters makes a speech a lot like this.

Of course, you put your own special Lena-spin on it. ;-).
