1) My daughter wants a cat 2) My sons love animals. Anything with a fur 3) A friend of mine has a few foundling kittens to find good homes for and 0) I WANT a cat myself. And now this. The Final Cuteness. I even have an iPad.
The only problem is, with three kids, a demanding job and a history of overworking/depression, maybe I should not take another duty. Especially since I like a rather traveling lifestyle. On the other hand, maybe a purring cat could be viewed as a therapy.
I think the only thing that really counts is if you're able to provide a cat with a warm, happy home where it'll be loved and nurtured and gets lots of attention and play-time. With all the traveling, that might be hard. But if you can honestly say that you can provide that happy home, I say go for it! A purring cat is very therapeutic, there's plenty of evidence for that.
